"It's like Ziggy Stardust meets X Ray Spex" - Antwerp Mansion

"Sarajevo"

“Sarajevo always deliver an action packed set of ace, adrenalin fuelled, angst ridden punk rock.

Reminiscent at times of the wonderful X-Ray Spex, here’s a Manchester band not scared of going against the grain.

Book em!”

Bio

“We have a big sound, big ideas and big hair”.

Welcome to the world of Sarajevo, a four piece, female fronted modern day rock’n’roll band. After recording two of their new tracks late in 2011, Sarajevo have just filmed their first music video to introduce them to the world. The self penned tracks “Ray Gunn” and “Loveplaster” are available on all the links listed. The video was shot at Antwerp Mansion in Rushholme, where Ray Gunn was described as sounding like “X-Ray specs meets Ziggy Stardust" - a brilliant comparison, but not all of Sarajevo's material sounds like this. The band will be performing live in and around the Manchester area as of March 2012, as well as heading back to the studio to record their Summer single.

Introducing Jenny Alexander, lead vocalist and rhythm guitar. Wild blonde hair and a theatrically trained voice that can rasp and snarl one moment and the next deliver an angelic sweetness that takes the audience by surprise. Matt Murphy on lead guitar is able to deliver complex grunge/metal inspired riffs alongside a smart three chord trick that drives the powerful stage show. Nick Elsby, bass guitar and James Lister, drums (and also piano and saxophone) are a solid driving back line that puts the meat in the Sarajevo sandwich.

The sound is big, the image is big, and the ambition matches the profile. With lyrics that are playful, colourful and outside the box combined with exciting, anthemic tunes 2012 is the year for the world of music to meet Sarajevo.
