Bio

What is Sarasa's music about? Is it J-POP? Is it world music?
Sarasa’s music has no borders. Her way of singing is a combination of a Japanese Traditional style known as "minyo," and her influences from various ethnic styles of music.
It carries a raw energy that transcends borders and resounds with your humanity. Her songs will take listeners to exotic places, sometimes reminding you of the rivers in India, or the jungles of Bali, and at other times the vast fields of Turkey.
She was born and raised in Nara, the oldest former capital of Japan. You can feel her love for hometown from “Moonsong” which is sung a cappella. This was recorded on location on the banks of the Tenkawa River, which is a famous spiritual spot in Nara.

Sarasa’s live performances are a must-see. She performs with a wide range of musicians and instruments. Her various configurations can consist of an acoustic duo, while also having accompaniments such as sitar, percussion and steel pan drums.
Her shows have a reputation for turning unsuspecting audiences into passionate fans.

Currently, she is actively turning out shows at various places such as ;cafes, clubs, halls, and outdoor festivals. In addition to this, her talents extend to being a radio DJ and a model.
In 2009, her long-awaited first album “And then the world began” was released. In 2010, Sarasa won First Place at the Osaka Street Musicians Grand Prix, earning the chance to play her music at the 2010 International Music Festival
in Seoul, Korea. Her dream to spread her music worldwide continues as she prepares for various concerts and music festivals across the globe. We are expecting to see more of her efforts in the near future.
