Driven by his hunger to prove those who doubt him wrong, Chicago-based rapper Sarcastik has not only held his own as an emerging artist but continues to grow as he becomes more versatile in his lyrical content rapping from English to Spanish, sadistic yet sarcastic (hence the name) metaphors and tongue twisting techniques as an MC. Sarcastik has collaborated with hundreds of artists and performed all over the Chicagoland area since 2005.
Miguel, and his twisted inflicted sense of humor alter ego, “Sarcastik”, was born on July 26th 1986, on the Northwest side of Chicago in “Humboldt Park”.When Sarcastik was five he moved to Puerto Rico to live with his grandmother where he witnessed her die from a heart attack at the age of nine. After the death of his grandmother he moved back to Chicago with his mother where he began writing rhymes. His passion grew stronger day by day, releasing his pain on paper.
For years, no one knew that Sarcastik began writing because he believed that no one would take him seriously let alone that he himself would of taken his music as far as it has come today. Growing up Sarcastik listened to Tupac and Notorious, Jay Z, Eminem, DMX, Hot Boys, No Limit, Bone Thugz and Twista, just to name a few, who has influenced him throughout his childhood and music today. By the time he was 14 he rapped his first freestyle and from there the rest is history!
Between constantly moving around and the hurt of his father not being there, music was an outlet for Sarcastik to express the things he was going through. He carried his notebook of rhymes everywhere with him and to him his, “notebook was like what a basketball was to Michael Jordan”. When he was 18 he began recording in the studio while working as a barber to make money to build his own studio. Once he built his own studio he taught himself to produce his own music. Now with songs ready to go all he needed was a stage to start getting his name known. From bars, clubs, high schools, and colleges he did just that which eventually lead him to start a group called “Our Way Out” in 2006. After the group split he continued working on his music and doing shows with “Fly Pig Entertainment” and Grain Entertainment. In 2011 he joined the group Middle Ground amongst members such as renowned underground legend Prime. Since then Sarcastik has dropped several music videos with his most successful video yet “You're Lying” directed by Project 1871, produced by Loose Cannon, debuted June 9th for the drama filled track about the battle of relationships in the music business, has climbed up to tens of thousands of viewers.
Today Sarcastik has built a name for himself and gained popularity with thousands of fans/followers who support his music through the releases of his music videos, mixtapes, and performances. He has since landed a recording deal with Rich House Productions. With a promising future that lies ahead, Sarcastik has no plans on stopping anytime soon.
