"Reviews by Big Apple BBQ June 2009:"

Singer/guitarist SaRon Crenshaw might be one of the most soulful and exciting blues artists you haven’t yet heard. The thing is, he’s been out there for over three decades, having shared stages with the likes of Denise LaSalle, Bobby Rush and the late Tyrone Davis. SaRon Crenshaw is a masterful blues showman in the lineage of B.B., Albert Collins, and Buddy Guy.

"Reviews on Red Bank Jazz & Blues Festival June 2006"

All music festivals have their surprises and this fest was no different. There's always that one act that you catch, get awed by, then think to yourself..... "who in hell is this"? Well, that such person was SARON CRENSHAW. At one of the auxiliary stages SARON drew one of the largest and more enthusiastic crowds of the event (at least of the acts I saw). Until now, this regular player at New York City's "Terrablues" was virtually unknown to me and a lot of the crowd. However, there was no way he was allowing his unfamiliarity to become an obstacle. SARON stood up there and played like he was Buddy Guy (except, unlike Buddy, he finished all of his songs) and the crowd was a bunch of his fans. At one point he even came down into the crowd, strolling between revelers, while playing the guitar with his tongue. This guy was a hell of a showman and more importantly, a hell of a bluesman. That's SARON CRENSHAW, keep your eyes and ears open for him.

"Gig Review on harpsurgery.com Oct 2008"

...SaRon Crenshaw is incredible. He has presence and rapport to match the likes of Luther Allison and Eric Bibb. His voice is the equal of any Atlantic soul singer – its richness, depth and expression is astonishing. His guitar work is comprehensively top drawer.

...I couldn’t name all the songs SaRon performed – many were his own – but his covers included Mojo, Cold Shot, at least two Robert Cray tunes and Rainy Night In Georgia/New York.

From the chair, as his chest swayed and his knees jumped to the beat, his guitar painted countless moods and his voice filled our souls to the very brim. His repertoire meandered through moody urban blues, soul, down home and upbeat delta styles. He could have comfortably moved into funk or jazz; but in every case, through altered rhythms and lyrics or simply his pure personality, SaRon injected a unique twist, taking full ownership of each song. This man is the perfect blues performer...

Bio

SaRon Crenshaw's first Blues impression came from his Grandfather, John Crenshaw Sr., who traveled from the South to New Jersey to make living and build family. Throughout SaRon's toddler to teenage years, SaRon often listened to his Grandfather hum Blues with his old guitar, telling stories on the porch. Since then Blues has been the legend for SaRon, something that accompanies his personality. During the 70's and 80's he traveled the country playing Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. He made his living playing bass for several bands in New Jersey, New York and South Carolina. This early career as a funky bassist laid influence in his later career as a guitarist/vocalist when he started playing with his own bands. SaRon is well known for his rich expression, soulful vocal and sensational guitar work, his ability to carry up and down the dynamics of the show. Over the years he also has shared stages with talented recording artists such as Lee fields, Roy Roberts, Denise lasalle, Bobby Rush, Jessie James, Tyrone Davis, and Chuck Roberson. Saron's love is The Blues; his musical and phonetic talent natually led to his success at his mature years as a powerful entertainer, who is never afraid to take his performance straight into the audience. SaRon Crenshaw has been inspired by some of the greatest singers and players of all time, B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy to name a few. SaRon plays a Gibson “Lucille" model guitar signed by B.B.King himself.
