Satasha M

Satasha Mar I Cruz Torres also know as Satasha M. is a Dominican-American recording artist and songwriter. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, but raised by her grandmother in Virginia. Having a dad as a EDM/House DJ and a risk-taking, rebellious mother created growth for an ultramodern lifestyle. It was this very growth that gave Satasha the privilege to explore all genres of music. Satasha learned to love house/neo-soul while with her dad and merengue tipico when with her mom. She also notes her older brother as her biggest influence who exposed her to mid 90's rap. At the age of 12 Satasha began recording at C N J Studios in downtown providence. Here she landed her first radio debut on Rhode Island's premier station Hot 106 with local celebrity Young Jinsu. The song was a remix to Dipset's Popular Hit Oh Boy. Satasha's musical aspirations were paused due to her pursuits for higher education, however she continued to work on her craft.

In early 2009 Satasha began recording and posting Youtube videos where she caught the attention of top songwriter Ester Dean and other reps at Interscope Records. Satasha M. moved to LA as she continued to hone in on her craft. After a year of self discovery She migrated back to Virginia, finished her bachelors in Communications, and sought out an internship for audio engineering at Super Producer Timbaland's studio Thomas Crown. It was then where she caught the attention of confidant and studio manager to Timbaland Brian Byrd who quickly quoted "I get it, I get your gift and talent". Satasha M began working on her debut project Girls at Thomas Crown in February of 2013. The EP was inspired by the HBO hit T.V. series Girls, created by Lena Dunham. A video for her first single "Pretend" was released on May 28, 2013. The second single "Don't Like You" was released on Soundcloud on June 19, 2013 and was acknowledge as a favorite on Timbaland Thursdays Soundcloud. Satasha has been posted on blogs such as DMV Flow, Illmaterial, and Thacommomwealth. Girls EP was released July 9, 2013.
