Satellite Papa

BandRockClassic Rock

Satellite Papa is a rock band in Northern Virginia fusing progressive and classic rock. Playing original songs and covers, the band puts on a hard rockin' show that appeals to young and old alike. It has just completed recording original songs. Sounds like The Fray, Snow Patrol and Linkin Park

Biography

Satellite Papa hit the Washington, DC, and Nothern Virginia music scene in 2008 playing a high energy style of rock music. They play a fusion of progressive and classic rock styles, which has been enthusiastically received by audiences in clubs and music festivals. They have just completed recording a set of new original songs that can be heard on Sonicbids. The band is composed of veteran musicians who have backed up great acts like the Pointer Sisters and Procol Harum. Their most recent appearances were at the JAXX Night Club in West Springfield, Virginia, the Fairfax Corner Summer Concert Series and the Reston Summer Festival in Virginia.
Their music is a unique blend of contemporary and classic styles, similar to such progressive rock artists as The Fray, Snow Patrol, Linkin Park, Creed, Santana and Porcupine Tree. In selective club venues, in addition to originals songs, the band is capable of playing a fusion style of blues/jazz/rock music by such artists as Steve Kimock and Rodney Holmes. For outdoor festivals they add to their repertoire of original music classic rock hits from such artists as The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin and The Moody Blues. This ability to appeal to old and young audiences alike sets Satellite Papa apart at big music festival events, where they have been enthusiastically received by large audiences. They were runner ups in a "battle of the bands" at JAXX club last year.

Obsession

Written By: Kim Holmes

OBSESSION
By Kim R. Holmes
As Performed by
“Satellite Papa”

First Verse

Whatever you want
Anytime for pain or pleasure
I’m at your side
No matter what you say
You laugh at me now
Demand my last full measure
Dark are my days
When you go away

But you’ll soon see
How we need each other
Now way out
Bound to be

Chorus

Together now
In a tangle of obsession
Imprisoned hearts
In a love that binds two souls
In sadness
You are everything to me
My hope
My life
My need

Second Verse

You cry for me now
But walk away tomorrow
It’s always the same
I can’t get enough
I’ll follow you there
Even if it means more sorrow
One moment of joy
In your arms is worth the grief

I know it’s true
Can’t live without each other
No way out
Bound to be

Chorus

Middle lead guitar

Third Verse

I have no regrets
I am where I wanna be
And thankful for
Every minute of her love
No doubts for me now
The choice was made so long ago
Clear and free
And made in happiness

We know it’s true
Can’t live without each other
Now way out
Bound to be

Only Light

Written By: Kim Holmes

ONLY LIGHT
By Kim R. Holmes
As Performed by
“Satellite Papa”

First Verse

The only light in a starless night
Shines so bright
Across the span of time
You looked my way as a young girl would
Fresh as yesterday

Second Verse

The first of many, the last of its kind
Stands alone
Waiting for the day
That never comes, is always gone
Ever yesterday

Chorus

The moment’s gone
So long ago
Forgotten like a young boy’s dream
You’ll never know
How many times
I’ve lost and found it in the faces I have seen

Third Verse

You will know not what I say
But that’s ok
For me and for you
Disappearing into the lonely last
Glimmer of the day

Whys and Wherefores

Written By: Kim Holmes

WHY’S AND WHEREFORE’S
By Kim R. Holmes
As Performed by
“Satellite Papa”

Verse

Still by the run
Fixed there in time
Gone by before
Long before

I cannot live
I cannot see
Past the many years
So many years

There is no time
There is no place
In the here and now
In a billion years
Don’t tell me all the why’s and wherefore’s
Locked up in your words

Chorus

Cuz I don’t wanna be
Lost or deceived
Out in the cold
Where the sky is black
And the river bends
Falling from the sky
I cannot fly
With wings of my own

Verse

I’m here and I’m there
No place to be
Not here or there
Here or there

The road’s open to me
All freedom to choose
Which way to go
Which way to go

There is no time
There is no place
In the here and now
In a billion years
Don’t tell me all the why’s and wherefore’s
Locked up in your words

Chorus
