""On May 7th at 3:00 P.M. the doors opened to Kaffe Krystal.""

"Next up was Sativa. This was my first time ever seeing this band play. This is a six peice band. They have a unique sound that I do not hear in this scene very often. The singer has a very nice and smooth voice but at the same time has the power to scream with perfect projection. They kept the crowd going and their calming sound added a nice feel to the atmosphere. They have beautiful lyrics and the music and instruments all fit in perfectly and uniformly with one another."

Bio

Sativa was formed in early June 2004 by Giann Rubio (formerly the drummer of Cyber Dyne, Life Strung, and Shattered Sunrise), Patrick Ingunza (formerly the guitarist of Inner Element, and Shattered Sunrise), and Keneth Figueroa (formerly the guitarist of Cheyne-Stokes, and Shattered Sunrise). The three members were all in Shattered Sunrise at the same time, but due to musical differences they decided to break off and form Sativa. Jose Lopez (formerly the drummer of Cheyne-Stokes), a long time friend and former band member (Cheyne-Stokes) of Keneth Figueroa's, was added to Sativa's line-up as Bassist, and added a new influence to the band's sound. The band then started writing music and searching for a singer. They knew from the beginning what they wanted in a singer. "I always said that when we find the person, we'll know it the moment he walks in the door.", says Giann, and that's exactly what happened. After four months and trying out at least 12 singers, Richard "Champer" Rosado (formerly of Mindfed) was added to the line-up. Shortly after, Carlos Alger of Just-Ill productions, a keyboardist/sampler was added to complete the band. Each member contributes their own unique style into the music, that emanates from his musical background and influence. As a six piece band, Sativa is not only a name, it's also a sound.
