Bio

Sato-San To started in 2008 as Thom Herians and Oskar Toroks experimental project.  Together they produced Satos first album Skinny (2008). Their unortodox music collage  of electronica, jazzy trumpet improvisation, jungle rhytmic patterns and world music  elements attracted plenty of well known Czech music figures. One of them was legendary bass player Jaromr Honzk with whom they won Colours of Ostrava award and subsequently recorded Satos second album Salep (2010) for Indies scope label. Other figures they worked with were for instance guitarist Petr Zelenka or saxophonist Ondej tverek.

In 2013 Sato-San To was reinforced by pianist Vojtch Prochzka and  Jaroslav Jtra Kovak has become the new bass player.

Oskar Torok and Vojtch Prochzka are members of contemporary jazz band Vertigo with which they won Czech music award Best Jazz Album in 2005 and 2011 and also the 2011 Tais Award. Their long-term collaboration, jazz and improvised music background, virtuosity and novel music ideas form a colorful counterpoint to the rugged, high energy rhythm section of Thom Herian and Jtra. These two players are engaged in electronic dance music interpretation and their cooperation in Sato-San To is the outcome of their duo Jtra&Herian. Their mastery of electronica beats is also put to use in N.O.H.A. band.

Sato-San To is currently finishing their new album Obludarium. The albums EP will come out on Jon Kennedy Federation US.
