Saturn's Virtue

Saturn's Virtue are a 4-piece progressive rock band hailing from Kilkenny, Ireland. Their birth, late in 2010, resulted when like minded musicians from two different bands found they had a lot of the same interests in music. After their first practice they could all tell there was something very different yet familiar about their direction. They started to push it as far as it would take them and found their varied styles came together joining in a flood of emotional and rhythmic intensity.
Their writing often takes a contemporary approach to rhythm and song structure with use of compound time and phrasing. Their songs can sound complex at times but when it all comes together there is a resounding simplicity of melody that anyone can identify with. The careful blend of effects help aid the transition of their instruments into subtle textures and alternate voices. This gives their songs more depth and clarity.
Within the first six months they recorded their first two tracks which were released online in February of this year as free downloads. Both tracks "Torn in Two" and "Rotten Core", were mixed and produced by the band, while the task of mastering was entrusted in the capable hands of Eddie Schreyer (Oasis Mastering).
The band are currently writing and rehearsing their new material which will feature on the upcoming E.P. to be released late summer 2011.
