"Satyr - "Andromeda""

At midnight last night, Atlanta foursome Satyr shared their new single “Andromeda,” a high-octane blast of progressive post-hardcore that should find a home among fans of genre leaders like Hail the Sun and Dance Gavin Dance. Comprised of Michael Campbell (guitar, vocals), Brody Smith (drums), Janald Long (guitar, vocals), and Calvin Cox (bass), the group plays with unbridled enthusiasm on the frenetic cut, a go-for-broke intensity that merges well with their technical virtuosity. There was a time in my life where I probably would have fallen head over heels for this—the blistering, vaguely metallic riffs; the explosive drumming; the dueling vocals, just clean and melodic enough to outweigh their occasional moments of screamo excess. But while my tastes may have evolved in different directions since then, I don’t want to take away from what Satyr are offering here. This is a scorching, ferociously tight jam played with passion and skill that shows considerable promise. Check it out below. - Immersive Atlanta

"Single's Weekend Featuring: Fantomen, House of Now, and Satyr"

With opening cords cut from the early 2000s, Satyr's single “Andromeda,” from their upcoming EP, is filled with clean melodic angst and infused with spot-on screamo. The drums hit hard and fast while guitar riffs keep up. While Satyr leaves pop-screamo heavy hitters like The Used to play the airwaves, they stay true to the cliches of the genre (suicide and depression). With such identifiable nods to the early 2000s, how could you not be transported back to the good days? Michael Campbell (Guitar and Vox), Brody Smith (drums), Calvin Cox (bass) and Janald Long (guitar and vox) felt called to the cause in early 2017 and are now playing all over town. You can check them out Friday, February 16th at the Masquerade, and March 2nd for their EP release at Toast and Jam Studios. Stay tuned for more to come on their Facebook, Instagram and check out the single on their SoundCloud. - Plasma Magazine

"Satyr - Neutrino!"

SATYR from Atlanta present us “Neutrino!” their (self-produced/released) debut EP. A short intro and then they unleash the artillery you could call typical Hardcore standard, but quite well done. Especially in full-speed mode they sound like modern and quite catchy Hardcore. Guitar tunes provide diversity and there’s also a variety of grooves.

You can hear that the band took song writing seriously. There are the occasional blast beats, and several breaks add to the appealing song structure. „Espacism (Filament)“ surprises with some clean vocals and hooks, creating an exciting atmosphere. „Duple” offers some bombastic guitar leads, a bit cheesy but still pretty Hardcore. Listening to the EP you get the impression that diversity and presenting their skills is more important to the band than providing a radio hit song. However, there’s a lot for head-banging or slam-dancing along.

Underground maniacs should definitely lend an ear to SATYR. Their EP is no re-invention of music, yet quite well done. - Stalker Magazine
