Palmer was recognized as a finalist for her song “Here I Stand,” which tells the tale of a man whose love has left him in a lurch. She told him she loved him and then she took a train to New York to be with another.
The song has a cadence that says, “Sing me on Broadway,” which is just what Palmer was going for. She said she likes the music of composers and songwriters Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter.
“They were geniuses,” Palmer said.
Being recognized by Song Of The Year was “more than I could ever hope for,” she said. “It was not just a boost of confidence, but an affirmation saying, ‘Hey I can do this.’”

Bio
I must admit that I am definitely influenced and greatly moved by Porter and the Gershwins, and the trials and tribs of my own life! I am a survivor of a ( fatal) illness and having experienced more bumps and bruises than a knotty tree, I write through my pains and joys. One of the things that set sme apart is my ability to hear your story or watch your life, and prose it.
