Bio

-Savage Love is a high energy, original band out to create their own musical world, always interesting and infectious. The intense vocals and incendiary guitar playing of Jonah Cohen, the funky/beefy bass licks of Charlie Meyer, and the massive polyrhythmic drumming of Danni Pope add up to make a superb group that can play anything from simple catchy songs to multipart, heavily layered arrangements with extended improvisation. Within their original songs, Tool meets Jimi Hendrix meets Sly & The Family Stone meets Skip James meets Eric Clapton meets The Mars Volta and more. All of these elements slam together into a compelling unit that just should not be missed- Savage Love.

-Jonah Cohen fell in love with guitar at age 8 and has pursued its mastery ever since. He dedicated his first five years to the acoustic blues guitar studying with the likes of John Cephas, Louisiana Red, Honeyboy Edwards, Del Ray, Lightin Wells and Gaye Degbalola. He's jammed onstage with the likes of Pearl Jam and Bill Frisell. Jonah received the National Guitar Workshop Steve Vai scholarship and has been featured in the HBO Special "Music In Me". Jonah was formerly guitarist and vocalist for the local band, Alligator Pears. Some of Jonah's favorites include: Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Pete Townsend, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta, Fela Kuti, and many more.

-Danni Pope was musical from a very early age and quickly moved from piano to harmonica to drums, supplying the rhythmic foundation for his middle school band and developing his propulsive, high-energy drumming style along the way. Danni was formerly the drummer of the local band, Alligator Pears. He is profoundly influenced by Chad Smith, Matt Cameron, Jon Theodore, Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, Blake Fleming, Neil Peart, Carter Beauford, and Thomas Pridgen.

-Charlie Meyer started off in music playing piano at a young age but gave that up for the bass guitar at age 9. He’s been playing ever since then striving to learn as much about the instrument as possible and constantly trying to perfect an original funky, rocking style. Charlie was formerly the bassist for local band, Flora Fauna. A few of his major influences are John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and John Entwistle of The Who.
