Bio

Savanna is a Chicago-based singer/songwriter whose fresh voice and engaging songs will leave you wanting more. Savanna’s acoustic based music draws inspiration from Taylor Swift, Colbie Caillat, and other young contemporary artists. Her lyrics about love and friendship, heartache and loss, and personal reflections on life connect with the feelings and experiences of audiences of all ages. Combined with her own unique blend of pop, folk, blues, and country rhythms, Savanna brings a sophistication to her songs that belies her age.

Born in Chicago on December 17, 1993, Savanna found her calling in music early on, forming singing groups with her childhood friends and peddling home-made CDs to neighbors door-to-door. She joined the school choir in 7th grade and for an 8th grade graduation present asked for a guitar. After a few classes at Old Town School of Folk Music she was off and running and never looked back. “I practiced every day until my fingers hurt, and as soon as I got some basic chords down I started to write songs. I write about my life, about relationships, what my friends are going through. It’s what I love to do and what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

When not at school or playing softball on the Lane Tech High School varsity team, Savanna is always on the lookout for an opportunity to play live. As the youngest regular on the Far North Side open mic circuit, Savanna was a 2009 semifinalist at the Uncommon Ground Sure Open Mic contest and was later featured in their 4 Women Only singer/songwriter emerging artists showcase. She has opened for other bands in coffee houses and church events and played in a variety of civic venues, from schools and libraries to block parties and farmer’s markets.

“Some people write poetry or paint pictures to express their feelings; I write songs. I love music so much and want nothing more than to be able to share it with other people.”
