"...I listened to a bunch of your songs on Myspace and it all sounds great. I wish I could play drums and sing as effortlessly as the Z-man."

"Band Shows It's Versatility"

Band shows its versatility

By Jackie Moffitt
Hidden Valley High School

Savannah Shoulders is a local breakout band that has been sweeping through the community and the Internet.

The band was originally formed at the beginning of 2010, and is releasing its first album, "Another Light," this month.

Zach Wiley sings lead vocal and provides a steady back beat. Max Lee plays bass guitar. John Pence and Vander Warner alternate lead and rhythm guitar.

"The group started out as friends getting together and playing music. We just grew from there by writing our own songs and music," Wiley said.

With that, Savannah Shoulders was born.

While listening to the group's new album, it is difficult to fathom that the band members' ages range from 16 to 18. The band demonstrates immense vocal and instrumental maturity.

The album opens with the song "Years," which will catch your attention with a U2-like guitar opening.

But then, the track "Clear" slows down the tempo and creates a relaxing mood.

As the album progresses, it becomes clear that this group is capable of great versatility. Savannah Shoulders is destined for a large audience and exciting future.

"Roanoke Times - New Album Mentioned"

The record features pop-rock hooks aplenty, fine musicianship and good production from Jake Dempsey at the Music Lab at Jefferson Center." - Tad Dickens, music columnist - Tad Dickens - The Roanoke Times
