Biography

Save Me Walter has been a band since the year 2000. The band started because of three young kids’ pure love for music. Mike Doyle (drums), Derek Walls (guitar) and Collin GIllenwater (bass) started playing their favorite Blink 182 and Greenday songs in Dereks basement. As the band grew in maturity they started to write their own material and recorded a demo in the summer of 2001. Shortly after that Collin left the band but Doyle and Derek continued to write song after song with just the two of them in the Band. The band remained stagnant for a while since nothing could be done with out a bass player. Finally the void was filled in 2003 when Save Me Walter’s best friend, Bobby Demakis joined up to play Bass. Tired of the same old pop-punk ‘esque songs they were creating SMW decided it was time for a change. They started writing songs derived from their harder influences such as Thrice, Propagandhi, The Refused, Poison the Well and many others. In the winter of 2003 the band recorded a 6 song demo entitled “The Impossibility of Breathing EP.” They also began to play shows on a regular basis. 2003 ended and 2004 came with a bang. A full length entitled “The Brain, The Backbone and The Heart” was recorded in the winter of 03-04. The boys started playing show after countless show and were finally gaining a fan base and the respect of the local music community. In the spring of 2004 a rhythm guitarist (Rickey Piscopo) was added to the lineup. Their sound was full and complete. Save Me Walter toured the Midwest in the summer of 2004. When they returned Derek decided he was no longer happy in the band and left Mike, Bob, and Rickey to fend for themselves. That did not stop them. Save Me Walter is currently a 3 piece however they are looking to add a rhythm guitarist. The current line-up is Mike Doyle (drums/back up vocals), Bobby Demakis (bass/vocals), and Rickey Piscopo (Guitar/vocals).
