Say Hello to Symphony (Self-titled) - 6 song, 32 minute Frosh EP

Bio

Since they first hit the New York City club circuit in October 2005, Say Hello to Symphony has been steadily on the rise. A powerful live show and growing fan base has landed them repeatedly on the main stages at CBGB’s and the Knitting Factory. Invitations to play at northeastern universities prompted several runouts. After a half-dozen live demos, they carried their dedication into the studio to record their frosh self-titled EP. With a bare bones budget allowing only two days of tracking, SHtS walked out with a self-produced six song, thirty-three minute, record strong enough to take the city by storm in September 2007.

There’s a lot of concrete between Lincoln Center and CBGB’s. After long days spent studying classical music at the world-renowned LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, band members would hop the subways down to the Lower East Side to chill on the rooftops. There was no plan, but somehow in the swirling mess of filthy sidewalks, grand concert halls and fine museums that is New York City, Say Hello to Symphony happened.

SHtS began rehearsals in Spring 2005. Five high school age boys, with some cumulative forty years of dedicated musical study began collaborating in a small, windowless studio on 58th street. Their music speaks to the countless combined hours of classical and jazz training, with meticulously nuanced, lush arrangements and a die-hard commitment to the live performance. Somehow, against all odds, such traditional education did not kill the beast within, but made him more refined. In addition to a studied aesthetic, Say Hello to Symphony is wailing vocals and moody lyrics, fat organs and dark electro-synths, dirty guitar and a rhythm section with enough groove to power an Apollo mission. Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Doors, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Rachmaninoff and Mozart all come together in SHtS to make a new breed of Rock and Roll that is dressed to kill.

Still, not a single member of Say Hello to Symphony is old enough to legally purchase alcohol.
