Say You Swear is an original, high-energy, rock/alternative band from Chicago, IL who's goal is to tour non-stop to reach the widest audience possible while maintaining artistic integrity and the ability to work hard and still have fun.

Biography

Say You Swear started as little more than a creative outlet for musician Adam Schoeller. It was a way to keep himself musically and creatively satisfied as he pursued a career in audio engineering during and after attending school. Then based out of New York City, Adam spent his free time writing and recording songs. Having no one around to work with, Adam took it upon himself to write and record everything, from drums and percussion, to piano and organ, to guitar, bass, and vocals. Unfulfilled by his experience in New York it was time for a change. Chicago was calling, along with the opportunity to resurrect an old passion; touring and performing.

Meanwhile, in the small college town of Oxford, OH, Ryan Stevenson (Bass Guitar), Eric Sunray (Lead Guitar), and Sam Hendricks (Drums) struggled to find their footing as an original rock band in addition to being full time college students at Miami University. Making the decision to move to Chicago in the summer of 2009 to take their musical endeavors more seriously, it was there that Ryan, Eric, and Sam met Adam, through a mutual friend, and the members of Say You Swear found what it is they had been looking for. Solidifying their sound and performance by touring extensively throughout the US; working hard and loving every minute of it, Say You Swear looks to leave a lasting impression everywhere they go.

Born To Lose

Written By: Adam Schoeller

When is it too late to change your mind?
It's not what I expected
When you dive head first you crash and burn,
When you think you know it all you probably got a lot to learn
If somehow I'd known, if maybe somebody told me what that pain was all about

Found every way to lose when I knew I couldn't win
I'm wearing thin
Take any way to run, find every excuse
I'm wearing thin

Have you tried to escape when there's no breaking out?
I'd rather not say the sins all out loud,
Cause I have been weak at more than one moment, but,
You play for keeps so you can trade for atonement
And I should be sorry but I've held a grudge
And you'd never know, I've been keeping it hush hush under lock and key
Take a weight off my chest for a breath of relief I so desperately need

Found every way to lose when I knew I couldn't win
I'm wearing thin
Take any way to run, find every excuse
I'm wearing thin
I found the way to fall
I'm born to lose, I live to win
You know I'd trade it all, even knowing the truth
And do it all again, again with you

Square One

Written By: Adam Schoeller

It started small as most things do
It spread a mile from an inch or two you took, you take for granted
What did you think would happen?
Now we're at odds and who could blame me?
You were off without explaining, but you'll make up with words what you lack in action
Cause you said it all before

You've gone too far this time, there's no turning back, You've done it again to me
And now we're right back where we started
You've gone too far this time, you're never gonna change, You're still set in your old ways, same mistakes, and you were never sorry in the first place

I did my best to give you credit, asked you to bend, you said forget it
Now I'm broken in two, but that's really not an issue
We're past the point of no return, every bridge with you I built I burned on purpose
Cause I don't think you're worth it and you get what you deserve

You never meant a word you said
Don't think I'll soon forget
You burned me once, shame on you!
You don't care what anyone is goin' through...

Merriam-Webster

Written By: Adam Schoeller

You don't know, I don't care, it won't make any difference
Who's at fault, who's to blame
Cause we're both here face to face
Stop that hour glass sand
I've got something to say before it's too late

And now I've got you to thank for this, a heart that's never gonna change

No, I could never describe
These words could never suffice
'Cause a feeling was all that we had
Dictionary definition? We were anything but that...

Since you left I expected everything to change
I hadn't heard a single word or rumor of your heartbreak habits
Some people never change
I'm glad I'm not around, too much pain, too much for me to take

Now I've got you to thank for this,
A scar that's never gonna fade

I could never describe
These words could never suffice
Cause a feeling was all that we had
Dictionary definition? We were anything but that

Recovery

Written By: Adam Schoeller

Pullin' out all those stitches, never needed help
You're the reason that I'm here and I can only blame myself
Are you cut a little deeper? Are you just a little weaker now?
Reaching out for somebody else

This is my recovery
There is no easy way out
This is my recovery
There's nothing wrong with me now

I'm fillin' up all that's missin' with anything else
I can't stand to sit here and listen to me beat up on myself
In my head it sounded smarter, in the end my heart was workin' harder for a friend
Reachin' out for somebody else

This is my recovery
There is no easy way our
This is my recovery
There's nothing wrong with me now

Don't Stop for Lights, Cops, Nothin'...

Written By: Adam Schoeller

One day at a time I'm livin',
Paycheck after next I am savin' up for Mexico, I need something visceral
So grab a bag and a camera, forget what to expect
Australia before Africa, y'know I wanna see the stars down under
Too much time at home I hate but I'm coming to respect,
The fact that I can find the front door
So pack light with a compass and where to roads intersect, follow one until it ends,
Or until it leads you back

I'm ready to go so hop in lets run every stop light in town
I'm ready to go so hop in lets burn another down, push that pedal to the ground
And drive away

Another strike at 12am,
the timezone after next I plan on setting all the clocks to read the time in Dallas, Texas
Cause I'm not so worried now about hours in a day,
These miles second as my minutes and pavement leads the way
to anywhere but where I've been and further yet to go
My bearings set I'm headed west, I'll slow down when the fuel's low,
But I'm never gonna stop and as long as I've got breath
I'll follow every road until it ends, until it leads to...

I'm ready to go so hop in lets run every stop light in town
I'm ready to go so hop in lets burn another down, push that pedal to the ground
And drive away

One day at a time, I know that I won't soon forget
'Cause that's the only way that I know
One day at a time, I know that you're still not convinced
But I can't wait around anymore
I can't wait around anymore

'Cause I'm ready to go so hop in lets run every stop light in town
I'm ready to go so hop in lets burn another down, push that pedal to the ground
Light it up and pass around, make the feeling match the sound,
Of the songs we sing now, as we drive away
