SBS (Spicy Bits of Scandal)

SBS (which apparently stands for SPICY BITS OF SCANDAL) has a pretty interesting history. Even though “The Gambler” is only their third release, the band has been around since 1979. Back then, they played Hard Rock/Heavy Metal in the vein of WHITESNAKE and BLACK SABBATH, but as the years passed, they adopted a more bombastic and melodic sound to reflect their new favourites, DIO and ROYAL HUNT. Now, in 2009, they sound heavier than ever, often flirting with Power Metal. What a drastic change of style for a band that started out playing ‘70s Rock!



One thing’s for sure: I didn’t expect “The Gambler” to be as melodic and catchy as it is. The vocals of Vitalis Kairiukstis combine with the keyboards of Vilius Kraujalis to give an extremely polished sound somewhere between ‘80s AOR and some of today’s more bombastic Power Metal bands. You really have no idea how satisfying it is to hear a Frampton-esque Talk Box riff placed over some STRATOVARIUS-esque keyboards until you’ve heard “C’est La Vie.”



The album seems to fluctuate in heaviness, with some tracks like “Never Again” and “Love And Hate” being mid-paced Melodic Metal songs filled with piano, while other tracks like “Black Angels” and “Flying Dutchman” are full-on Power Metal shredfests. “Flying Dutchman” in particular has a very STRATOVARIUS-like tint to it, as Kraujalis seems to embrace his inner Jens Johansson while Kairiukstis croons the chorus with all the grace of Timo Koltipelto (and the ending note is very impressive).



While the majority of the slower tracks are fantastic, there are a few, like “Joan Of Arc” and “Your Life,” that seem to drag on for way too long. In addition, all of the slower tracks are outclassed by the Power Metal monsters. If the infinitely badass “Black Angels” and the wondrously melodic “Flying Dutchman” are any indication, it’s a given that SBS can write some killer Power Metal material, so why doesn’t the band try it more often? Plus, we actually get to see more of each band member’s skill on the Power Metal songs (and they’re skilled as all hell, believe me). If they can play it, and Kairiukstis can sing it, and the songwriting holds up, then why not try it full-time?



Overall, “The Gambler” is an effort worthy of any Melodic Metal fan’s money. Power Metal and AOR fans may also dig it because it straddles the line between both genres. It’s catchy, sharp, well-written material, and it’ll be interesting to see the next direction that this constantly-evolving band chooses to take.

Spicy Bits of Scandal (SBS) is a veteran band based in the city of Vilnius, Lithuania, which was founded in 1979 by Vilius Kraujalis (vocals and keyboards) and Darius Rutkys (guitars). With Girenas Medziukas (drums), Rolandas Buidovas (bass) and Mikaelis Feigelovicius (guitar) they played in local venues and festivals in Latvia and Poland. During 1991-1992, lead vocalist Vitalis Kairiukštis entered the band, while founder Vilius and other original members quitted. Vitalis kept the band alive, helped by other musicians - keyboardist Naglis Patamsis (later replaced by Jovaras Civas), Tomas Varnagiris (guitar) and Jonas Aleksa (bass). In 1996, after the release of the first record “Menulio Šviesa“, Vilius returned to SBS for a series of shows. After a 4 years pause, SBS reunited in 2005 with a new line-up: besides Vitalis and Vilius, Tomas Varnagiris (guitar), Martynas Garbacas (bass) and Šarunas Venckus (drums) also took part. SBS then opened a show for "Judas Priest" in Vilnius (which was recorded in the 2006 live CD “Gimes laimeti”). Guitarist Tomas Varnagiris was then replaced by Giedrius “Jumbo” Balciunas (ex- "Linfeng"). The third album - “Tik menulio šviesa...“ - was released in 2007. The new album, entitled "The Gambler" (Monaco, VK), was released in 2008 in a special digipack edition with embossed cover and bonus DVD. The musical formula of SBS is simple, but efficient: to join the Traditional and Melodic Metal of the 70’s and 80’s ("Rainbow", "Scorpions", "Judas Priest", "Dio", "Accept", "Helloween" and "Malmsteen") with the heavier and faster pace of modern Power Metal (mainly "Stratovarius", "Helloween" and "Gamma Ray", and, to a less extent, "Rhapsody of Fire", "Sonata Arctica", "Nocturnal Rites" and "Dark Moor"). Vilius, Giedrius and Vitalis are the creative motors of the band. Vilius is a classic keyboardist that uses many citations of "Beethoven", "Mozart" and "Rachmaninoff" in his harmonies and solos. He often duels with the fast and technical guitar of Giedrius, who is strongly influenced by "Yngwie Malmsteen" and "Timo Tolkki", but never forgets the lessons of the old masters "Blackmore", "Uli Jon Roth", "Mathias Jabs" and "Glenn Tipton", letting his fingers being guided by soul and feelings. Between the two, and giving balance to the band, stands Vitalis (or should I say Vitality?). As SBS’s front men for almost two decades, he is a charismatic minstrel with theatrical voice who risks some Halford-like screams here and there, and will never surrender on stage as long as he can be kept energized by the powerful rhythm section of Martynas and Sarunas. Along the 14 tracks of “The Gambler” the musicians act in unison, keeping the record flowing like a copious river. After “F001 – Specific Brunsus Syndrom“ (a symphonic intro with burlesque voices) the powerful “Black Angels“ (in pure "Stratovarius" style) warns you that SBS will not let you down. Even though they show their most melodic face by inserting some short ballads and radio hits - “Never Again“, “C’est la Vie“ (with a soulful guitar solo), “The Wind of Your Soul“ and “I’m Begging You“ (a beautiful ballad in "Scorpions" style) - it is with the longest, fastest and heaviest tracks that SBS is authorized into the circle inhabited by "Helloween", "Stratovarius" and "Gamma Ray". Songs like “The Flood“, “The Gambler“, “Agnus Dei“, “Joan of Arc“ (theatrical like a movie soundtrack) and “Flying Dutchman“ (mostly epic, tending to "Rhapsody of Fire" and "Dark Moor") attest the high quality of their compositions. Among so many great tracks, it is still possible to pick up three masterpieces, on which SBS shows its originality: “Love and Hate“ (with surprising bass passages); “Your Life“ (a gothic song, with church organ and somber Gregorian chants); and “Zauberflöte“ (inspired by the movie “Amadeus”, it has excerpts of Mozart’s operas). The bonus DVD brings songs played in Lithuanian: two versions (in audio and videoclip) of “Tavo Sielos Vèjas“ (“The Wind of Your Soul”) and three songs alive - “Zaidèjas“ (“The Gambler”), “Your Life“ and “Pranaso Sapnas“ (“Prophet’s Dream” – from the third album). SBS opens way for further explorations into the musical world of the Baltic States, a region that, due to proximity with Finland and Sweden (relevant countries, speaking of Metal) is prone to reveal more bands in the future. SBS is highly recommended for fans of Melodic Metal and Melodic Power Metal. SBS stands for ''Spicy Bits Of Scandal'', and I guess that the shortened SBS is easier to create an international career, so let's name them SBS from now on. One of the highlights in their long term career was adding Vitalis Kairriukstis in their line up. Vitalis is probably the best Lithuanian Hard Rock singer that is living in this country, and he reminds me on Klaus Meine from The Scorpions by appearance and looks. SBS have an international sound and attitude and seem to be ready to fight their competitors in the metal arena!



Heavy Metal monsters Judas Priest choose SBS to open for them during their Vilnius gig in 2005. The whole thing was recorded and released as a live album, which included 5 new studio songs as well. This album consolidated the band with a mega hit ('Zaidejas') in their home country, followed by the 'Roko Naktys Festival', which was recorded by national Lithuanian TV. Another line up change occurred, and 2006 saw the start of a refreshed SBS line up with youngster Giedrius on guitars. Giedrius is the only musician in Eastern Europe with an endorsement deal of Hammer Guitars. The same year, they were invited again to play the Roko Naktys Festival, valued by mass media.



Anno 2007, SBS released their second album ''Tik M�nulio Sviesa...'', which stands for ''Only Moonlight...'' and the reviews were rave so far! Our copy has a list of the songs and their original titles, but luckily also an overview on their English meaning, so we will focus on the last. Opener 'Revenge' has a typical Lithuanian intro (as far as I am aware about this totally unknown country, but it gives me the right feeling, let's put it this way) that is changing over in a pretty speedy track.


The band is able to compose and create good arrangements that vary from up-tempo to melodic songs and last but not least ballads. The only obstacle or stumbling block might be the lyrics that are unintelligible and inarticulately. Perhaps, they will focus on English lyrics in the future, which would be a good move.



I can conclude that my expectation was rather restrained when I received the package, but the band surprised me all the way with their great performance and musical skills! The live pictures that were added indicate that this band is ready for the next level in their musical career, and it would be cool to see how Vitalis is breathing fire on a West European stage in the near future!

Beside the well known KATEDRA is this Vilnius based traditional heavy me tal band the most famous band in this little country. Of course the quintett exists since a long time. No matter that the album is packed with highclass tunes. After the obligate intro AMEN starts the album with the impressive SV ETIMI PAUKSCIAI. I wish I could be one of the viewers at this live recorded songs. This song beats a strong atmosphere and reminds me on the rock saurus legends RAINBOW and DIO. In the same strong style follows TU VIS KA SUTRYPEI KAS SVENTA. The good introducing of keyboards are arran ged in the style of the big & famous scandinavian melodic metal bands as EUROPE, TREAT and MA DISON. But to lead you all not into a wrong imagine about SBS. I used this groups only for an indi rect comparision to made it easier to describe the sound of this great band. Of course no musican likes this comparisions and it´s true to attest this quartett an unique bombast melodic metal sound. But if I write concrete here about mel odic metal I didn´t mean this kind of today´s light and easy composed small metal. No way, SBS are founded in the bombast melodic metal of the 80ies. But before I loose the basic about the style of the band I return to the more impor tant fact, the featured material on this fine packaged disc. So here we run with KELIO ATGAL NERA continue in this direction.Like a yourney back in the glory 80ies are the following AS NAKTYJE and the classical inspired SUGRIZK. In the line of scandinavian melodic metal reigns also VIZIJA.Maybe this track acts a bit to poppy and static. The live recording ends then with the amazing and memorable TIK MENULIO SVIESA. During the soundquality of the liverecording could be sometimes better shows the second part of the album the real class of SBS. This six studio recordings brilliance with with a perfect powerfull sound. Their vocalist VITALIS KAIRIUKSTIS is a big one in his genre. Tracks like BLEFAS, ZAIDEJAS or a more into the powermetal vain acting cut as DRAKONS winning so enorm on dynamic. General is the ten dence at this studio cuts into the melodic powermetal corner.In otheSTr words, a great band with a wide view for the future. Beside this audio CD contains this package also a live DVD from the ROKO NAKTYS 2005 festival with eleven tracks. No matter this proffesional filmed concert of the extrava gant show is good to view. All the mentioned live tracks from the audio cd plus a couple of more celebrates there the group. Of course the sound quality as well the performance is candy for your metal tongue. The boys are tight musicans. THOMAS VARNAGIRIS is an impressive guitarist with a little MALMSTEEN attitude. But the top of the crown is the voice and the visuell performance of their suberb singer VITALIS KAIRIUKSTIS. Perfect how did he act the whole gig. A class for itself is his outfit. Wie vielfältig der Band-Pool im Heavy Metal-Bereich doch ist, zeigen immer wieder die Exoten unter ihnen. So erreichte mich vor ein paar Wochen ein Album aus dem Baltikum, das bisher für mich noch eher zu dem weißen Flecken auf meiner Musik-Landkarte gezählt hatte. Noch überraschter war ich, als dem Begleitschreiben zu entnehmen war, dass die Band bereits seit 1979, also gute 10 Jahre vor unserem "Mauerfall" sich dem Rock und Metal verschrieben hatte.
So richtig nach oben ging es mit Spicy Bits of Scandal, als 1996 Litauens bester Rocksänger Vitalis Kairiûkðtis verpflichtet werden konnte. Aber es sollten nochmals knapp 10 Jahre bis zur großen Chance vergehen. Die ergab sich im Dezember 2005, als sie vor 6.000 Zuschauern den Support-Act für Judas Priest übernehmen durften.
Alle Zeichen stehen eigentlich auf Erfolg, bedenkt man, dass das neueste Mitglied, der junge Gitarrist Giedrius Balèiûnas als erster Musiker aus Osteuropa nun von Hamer Guitars und Zoom unterstützt wird.
Genug Intro, widmen wir uns der Musik, die übrigens in Litauischer Sprache vorgetragen wird und ich zugegebenermaßen kein Wort davon verstehe.

Die ersten acht Songs des Albums sind ein Live-Mitschnitt und die als Bonus-Titel deklarierten Songs 9-14 Studioversionen - eine Mischung, die durchaus Freude bereitet.
Das sphärisch gehaltene Intro "Amen" verrät noch wenig von dem, was dann folgen wird, leitet jedoch stimmig über zum ersten Song "Svetimi Paukðèiai", der trotz modernem Anstrich mit vertrauten Riffs glänzt und ohne weiteres als Klassiker der 80er durchgehen könnte. Die Band scheint spielfreudig und kann die Zuschauer scheinbar auch animieren, sich lautstark einzubringen.
Ebenfalls nicht zu schnell aber auch nicht zu langsam, beginnt "Tu viskà sutrypei kas ðventa" mit Keyboard-Klängen, die etwas an die Altmeister Saga erinnern. Endlich darf sich Gitarrist Giedrius Balèiûnas mit einem Gitarren-Solo richtig austoben.
Nach kurzem Zwiegespräch mit dem Publikum überzeugt "Kelio atgal nëra" auf der ganzen Linie durch eingängige Riffs, einen melodischen Refrain, die gute Gesangsleistung des Frontmanns und nicht zuletzt durch einen spielfreudigen Lead-Gitarristen, dem man diesmal sogar noch mehr Solozeit einräumt. Genau mit solchen Songs kann man Live wirklich punkten.
"Að naktyje" erinnert stark an die guten alten Scorpions-Zeiten vor zwanzig Jahren. Mid-Tempo, keine übertriebene Härte und mitreißend vom ersten Moment an. Der mehrstimmige Chor im Refrain reduziert nach meinem Geschmack jedoch etwas zu viel von der Härte. Hier fehlen eindeutig die etwas rauhen Stimmen.
"Sugráþk", die erste Ballade, klingt stellenweise wohl etwas sperrig und kann erst nach ein paar Durchläufen zünden. Dem melodischen Refrain und dezenten Keyboard-Klängen, gelingt es jedoch sofort zu punkten.
"Vizija", die sinnbildliche Wiederauferstehung der 80er bietet solide gitarrenlastige Metal-Kost der in jedem Fall zum Mitnicken animiert.
"Tik mënulio ðviesa", eine über sieben Minuten dauernde Halbballade setzt auf dünnere Instrumentalisierung und lässt zum Abschluss auch dem Publikum die Möglichkeit, sich mit Chören aktiv einzubringen.
Wer jetzt denkt, dass bei dem tempomäßig eher gemächlichen Live-Teil schon das ganze Pulver verschossen wurde, der wird sicherlich von "Þaidëjas", dass sich nach dem etwas schleppenden Instrumental-Übergang "Belfas" zur richtigen Power-Rakete entwickelt. Moderne Keyboard-Arrangements, überzeugende, melodische Gitarrenarbeit und Double-Bass-Drumming lässt so richtig die Post abgehen.
"Að dugne", als Vertreter der etwas härteren Klänge, sorgt für Schwung vor den Boxen und brilliert einmal mehr mit der dominanten Stimme des Frontmanns, die mir hier fast etwas zu dominant in den Vordergrund gemischt wurde.
"Agnus Dei" fällt etwas aus dem Rahmen, bedient es sich doch auch aus der Modern- und Epic-Kiste, was durch die Vielzahl eher zweitklassiger Samples nicht auf der ganzen Linie überzeugen kann. Dazu ist man von den richtigen Meistern des Genres schon zu sehr verwöhnt worden.
Achtung, keine Angst, es ist nicht der CD-Player, der spinnt. Eine alternative Version des fetzigen "Þaidëjas" setzt den krönenden Abschluss unter ein solides Hard Rock/Heavy Metal-Album, dass sich mittlerweile zum Glück nicht mehr hinter einem eisernen Vorhang zu verstecken braucht.

Fazit: Bei diesem Album stand eindeutig weniger die musikalische Herausforderung im Vordergrund als vielmehr die Vielzahl von Sonderzeichen. Nein, im Ernst, die musikalische Leistung bewegt sich auf einem angenehmen professionellen Level mit einer gehörigen Eigenständigkeit, was durchaus auch in der Sprache begründet sein mag.
Aber nicht nur die Musik-CD kann überzeugen, sondern auch die DVD, die nicht nur als besseres Bootleg daher kommt. Hier hat man auf Abwechslung bei den Einstellungen und Bildqualität geachtet und die Produktion ist druckvoll genug um dauerhaft Freude zu bereiten.

Sicherlich trug der Niedergang der Sowjet-Union dazu bei, dass die nun unabhängig gewordenen Staaten mehr Freiheiten für sich verbuchen konnten. Auch wenn die damit verbundene Verantwortung zur Selbstverwaltung für einige Staaten nicht gerade eine leichte Aufgabe darstellte, so waren es in erster Linie die baltischen Staaten Litauen, Lettland und Estland, die sich "Freiheit" auf die Fahnen schrieben.
Dass für die Freiheit der Musik keine Staatensysteme zu Bruch gehen müssen, beweisen Bands wie die Litauer Spicy Bits of Scandal. Schon seit 1979 aktiv in Sachen Rock und Heavy Metal ließ sich damals bei den Herren sicherlich niemand träumen, was knapp 12 Jahre später an Änderungen ins Haus stehen würde.

Auch auf ihrem neuen Album TIK MËNULIO ÐVIESA spielt Zeit eine gewisse Rolle, sind doch die ersten neun Songs bereits aus dem Jahre 1996 und die restlichen drei Songs von 2006 quasi aktuell.

Zehn Jahre sind natürlich eine lange Zeit und so hat sich nicht nur am Line-Up einiges geändert. Lediglich Sänger Vitalis Kairiûkðtis und sein Kollege Kraujalis, der auch fast ausschließlich für's Songwriting verantwortlich ist, sind noch übrig geblieben. Insgesamt waren immerhin schon 35 Musiker bei SBS beschäftigt. Trotz der langen Zeit ist dies durchaus eine stattliche Anzahl.

Welche Unterschiede musikalischer Art kann man erwarten? In jedem Fall ist die Ausgestaltung deutlich voller und ausgereifter geworden. Synthie-Effekte gehören dabei ebenso zum guten Ton, wie deutlich fettere Gitarren-Riffs und eine druckvollere Rhythmusfraktion.

Einige der Songs bekam man schon als Live-Version auf dem Vorgänger GIMÆS LAIMËTI zu hören und auf der DVD, einem Live-Mitschnitt des Roko Naktys Festivals von 2006 sogar zu sehen.

Der Auftakt erfolgt bei "Kerðtas" durchaus unerwartet, zumindest habe ich keine Männerchöre mit symphonischen Keyboard-Klängen erwartet, die als Overtüre eines schnellen Heavy Metal-Songs eingesetzt werden. Trotz druckvoll agierender Rhythmusabteilung werden die Gitarren leider zu sehr im Hintergrund versteckt und dürfen nur bei den Soli vorne mitspielen. Dann tun sie dies allerdings mit vollem Einsatz und voller Leidenschaft.
Geradlinig wie in den guten alten Scorpions-Zeiten und mit Druck nach vorne stürmt "Að naktyje", das schon auf der DVD eine gute Figur abgab. Für mich ist es eines der Highlights, welches sofort zündet und auch länger im Ohr hängen bleibt. Trotz Ecken, Kanten und wildem Solo ein Lied ohne übertriebene Härte, dass ich mir gut in den Charts vorstellen kann. Bemerkenswert auch Kairiûkðtis Schrei am Ende.
Mit über fünf Minuten Spielzeit setzt "Tik mënulio ðviesa" als Halbballade vor allem auf dezente Keyboard-Teppiche und Gitarren-Akzente statt sägende Gitarren-Riffs. Die gefühlvolle und phrasenreiche Gesangsleistung von Vitalis tut einmal mehr ihr übriges, den Ohr-Schmeichelfaktor zu erhöhen.
"Tuðèia Manoje Sieloje" zeigt eine weitere musikalische Seite der Litauer. Mit eigenwilliger Melodieführung, einigen progressiven Elementen und Balalaika-Klängen vermag das Stück durchaus zu überraschen und auch zu überzeugen.
Die erste richtige Ballade "Mirties SukD;ry", nach klassischem Muster komponiert, verzichtet auf übertriebenes Pathos. Sie punktet mit einer ausgewogenen, teils mit Akustik-Gitarren versehenen Instrumentalisierung, eingänigem Gesang und Chor.
Deutlich moderner als das vorherige "Að naktyje", besitzt "Kelio atgal nëra" jedoch die gleichen Tugenden - Geradlinigkeit, Eingängigkeit und jede Menge Spielfreude. Genauso muss es klingen, will man sein Publikum begeistern und mitreißen.
Es muss jedoch nicht immer Druck und Tempo sein. Bei "Pasaulis visas Kelyje" schaffen es die Litauer, quasi mit groovendem Slowmotion-Heavy Metal zu begeistern. Lediglich beim Gitarren-Solo werden gewohnt schnellere Tonfolgen heruntergebrochen.
Auch der Donner zu Beginn kann nicht über manche Pop-Anleihen bei "Lietus Iðplaunantis Akis" hinweg täuschen. Aber keine Angst, vom Mainstream-Pop ist man bei diesem Mid-Tempo-Walzer noch meilenweit entfernt.
Das kurze Akustik-Intermezzo "Ilgesys" läutet schließlich die Neuzeit ein.
Leicht spacig klingende Keyboard-Klänge, die auch gut zu Captain Futures Weltraum-Abenteuer passen könnten, ebnen den Weg für den recht flotten Hard Rocker "Lacrima / Nieks Nepakeis". Ja, es hat sich einiges getan. Hat man schon früher gerne mit jeder Menge interessanten Füll- und Beiwerk gearbeitet, so wurde nun auch an der Konzeption und Qualität gearbeitet. Hier gibt man sich nicht mit ein paar Allerwelts-Riffs und netten Gitarren-Licks zufrieden. Umso erstaunlicher ist es, welch komplexe Geschichte sich in nur sechseinhalb Minuten erzählen lässt.
"Trys Uhnys" ist eines der härtesten Stücke auf dem Album und vermittelt schon einmal einen druckvollen Power Metal Vorgeschmack auf den Schluss-Track. Das diesmal die Gitarren mit den Keyboards Platz getauscht haben und deutlich druckvoller agieren, ist dabei kein Schaden.
Das Beste Stückchen habe sich die Litauer - Hard Harder Heavy

Litauen ist im Metal-Rock-Bereich noch als exotisch zu bezeichnen. Dabei sind die Balten in Gesamtheit an diverser zeitgenössischer Musik überdurchschnittlich stark interessiert. Das lässt sich an der Fülle der Seiten mit den Top-Level-Domains lt, lv und ee feststellen. Und natürlich wollen die Balten auch im globalen Musikkosmos mitmischen. SPICY BITS OF SCANDAL, kurz SBS, besteht aus Litauern und versierten Hard-Rock–Musikern. Das steht schon mal fest.

Die Band gibt es seit 1979, eine Fülle von Besatzungswechseln hat stattgefunden und nun scheint die Besetzung gut zu funktionieren. Da stehen 20 Jahre Altersunterschied zwischen Taster und Klampfer. Schön. Geeinigt hat sich der geharnischte Klüngel auf klassischen Bombastrock, auf Heavy Metal der klareren Sorte. Ausbrüche in dunkelböse Grunzeinheiten und berserkische Birkenfällungen erwartest du vergeblich. Lieber wird das lange Haar geschmeidig gekämmt und angelegt. Sauber muss das sein. Gespielt und gesungen.

Tendenziell wird der gesamte Musik-Markt Osteuropas ja gern mal zusammengefasst, leider ist der Schreiber bisher gedanklich noch nicht allzu weit in die Szenen eingedrungen. Dass es aber brodelt und die romantischen, mystischen Ansätze mit meist überzogener Ritteroptik zusammengefasst auftreten - na ja, wer's mag. SBS post eben auch im Burgeingang herum. Dabei ist das hier recht modern. Polen ist da Vorreiter, und dort ist SBS auch schon recht bekannt.

Begonnen wird mit einem schönen litauischen Choral, diverse Folkinstrumente flattern hier und dort durch, der Falsettgesang zelebriert in der Landessprache den einen und anderen Ausflug in höhere bis höchste Gefilde. Die Sprache liest sich fließend und hört sich auch so an, da gibt es nichts zu sagen. Etwas weniger Pathos kann auch sein, manchmal wiegelt sich das Quintett selbst in eine Art Chansons ab – wer die Schwermütigkeit in der Kultur dort kennt, den wird das nicht sehr überraschen.

Es gibt genormte Soli, einen dichten Hintergrundteppich durch die Synths, für Abwechslung ist genug gesorgt. Eigentlich ist bei SBS für Freunde des "wahren" Metalls alles vorhanden. Nur muss sich das noch herumsprechen. Also: weitersagen. Und die Ritterrüstungen einfach nicht so ernst nehmen. Lieber mal die Kette in den Schrank und 'Pasaulis Visas Kelyje' oder 'Lacrima / Nieks Nepakeis' aufs Ohr. Dann 'Pranaso Sapnas'. Schöne Sprache, keine Frage. - Powermetal.de von Mathias Harz
