SCALEHOUND - Self-Titled Album - 2011 (The Bottoms Recording Co)

Feeling a bit camera shy

Growing up in rural Western Kentucky, country music and golden oldies ruled the airwaves. While not a bad thing, fortunately for the Sirls brothers, whose folks are both musicians, there were always 45’s by The Beatles, CCR, The Ventures, The Allman Brothers, etc, lying around to help further expand their musical palettes. After a few early years of honing their skills and eventually writing their own music, the brothers decided a move was in order to further the cause. So, Nashville, TN became home.

Within a year of moving to Nashville, the brothers and their band at the time recorded a 4 song demo and were quickly summoned to New York City, where they were wined and dined. As is the music “business”, things didn’t quite pan out with the fine folks in the Big Apple at the time. So, the brothers headed South and spent the next several years releasing albums independently and performing hundreds of shows with their band Big Jim Slade, including a four year residency at popular Nashville venue Mercy Lounge as backing band for the “Everybody’s A Rockstar” Show, two appearances at Bonnaroo, and support for national acts such as King’s X, Drive-By Truckers, Raging Slab, Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise, Kevin Kinney, OkGo, Centromatic, and many more.

A few years ago however, the brothers found themselves in the midst of what would become somewhat of a band hiatus. The brothers kept writing songs though, eventually deciding to start fresh with a new identity. Soon thereafter, SCALEHOUND came to be.

SCALEHOUND has released their self-titled debut album. The album contains 11 songs that run the gamut, from swampy opener “The End If We Want It” to heavy closer “Movin’ On”.

SCALEHOUND is currently a featured artist in THE DOC CHANNEL series “Liner Notes”.
