"The songs themselves are fun, optimistic and endearingly nerdy..."

"From the reverb-slathered, Edge-esque guitar riff of album opener “El Cheapo” to the hearty, resounding synth line of closer “Impression,” locals Scale Model’s debut LP Star is rife with sonic references to the biggest, sleekest synth-pop and post-punk acts of the ’80s. Star’s standout...is likely its unapologetically glossy production, created with a cast of all-stars including Jeremy Ferguson and Bully frontwoman Alicia Bognanno (who oversaw tracking at Battle Tapes) and Self’s Matt Mahaffey (who mixed the record). The songs themselves are fun, optimistic and endearingly nerdy..." - D. Patrick Rodgers, Nashville Scene

"Week In Pop"

"On the Cyclist remix of “Live It Up”, the synths illuminate like rows of utility lights...the night life is embraced with the bright-eyed/bright minded contributions from Dave Johnson’s rhythmic guitar, to the vocal surveillance of nightclub creatures from keytarist/vocalist Megan Rox, to Steve Cross’s drum arrangements getting re-kitted and gears shifted by Cyclist’s new sequence. Here the keyboard notes fall all around Megan’s thought journal that describes the dispositions and characters of the different club-goers — young and old — giving all listening participants a new chance to feel as old or as young as they want. The message is life, and to live every evening and day to the VERY fullest." - Impose Magazine

"Scale Model premiere new synth-pop gem Plato's Cave"

"Scale Model have undoubtedly found a middle ground between tight, heavy sounding drums, bass, and guitar, and the transient yet forward-propelling synth that makes the whole cluster of tracks on their recently released Star album transcend the normative staples of the over-saturated pop genre. What feels right (or at least absolutely right now) about Scale Model is the perfect balance throughout Star; every element in its place and in service of a set of sinuous, hook-laden, elegantly crafted pop songs." - Amadeus Magazine

"Scale Model //New Single Released//Do It Tonight"

"THE PERFECT SONG TO CLOSE OUT YOUR SUMMER. SOMETHING THAT WILL KEEP YOUR HEAD SWAYING AND YOUR BODY COOL. SOMETHING THAT’LL MAKE YOU WANT TO GO DO SOMETHING SEXY TONIGHT." - The Work Magazine Blog

"Rox’s vocal melodies float on top like Nena or “Heart of Glass”-era Debbie Harry..."

"...Scale Model uses New Wave’s synthesis of propulsive rhythms from krautrock and disco as a foundation...letting Rox’s vocal melodies float on top like Nena or “Heart of Glass”-era Debbie Harry." - Stephen Trageser, Nashville Scene

"Upbeat music, catchy hooks..."

"Upbeat music, catchy hooks and an excellent underlying melancholy vibe to it all." - Michael Eades, We Own This Town

"What a lovely record!"

"[Megan] Rox’s more self-assured vocals have become a revelation. It’s not just that her singing is so delectable and angelic on this brand new EP, but on songs like the wondrous “Ground Beneath My Feet” (and the great “Set Me Free,” from their also-excellent 2010 Set Me Free E.P.), her delivery and words sound inspiring. And on closing tracks “Mindreader” and “Impression,” her voice soars. What a lovely record!" - Mark Suppanz, The Big Takeover

Bio

After relocating to Nashville from Chicago in 2009, singer/keyboardist Megan Rox and guitarist Dave Johnson solidified the current band lineup in 2011. They released a self-titled EP in August of 2012, and began working on their debut full-length album Star in 2013. It was tracked with Jeremy Ferguson at Battletapes (Turbo Fruits, Tristen, Forget Cassettes) and Brian Carter at Paradox Productions (Glossary, The Nobility, The Features), and mixed by Matt Mahaffey (Self, Beck, The Sounds, Pink). The band is releasing the Deluxe Edition of Star, with select remixes, on September 30th 2014. They now regularly tour the southeast, midwest, and eastern U.S., and are looking to expand into other markets.
