Bio

Scarlet Grove, a new Jazz Duo on the Scene was formed by Jeremy Kurn and Noelle Marie Nus in Boulder, Colorado in the fall of 2008. Both being classically trained but wanting to step out of the box they found a modern jazz sound that hit the spot. Their sublime sounds and sophisticated arrangements propelled them to where they are today. A throw back to classic jazz standards with the fusion of 5 decades of great music, their sound is both unique and classic.

Noelle Marie’s life could be described as “a love affair with music.”. Piano and violin took center stage in childhood, in high school she found her true passion with singing. During her high school years, she starred in several musicals and continued towards a singing career in college, where she trained classically and studied opera. Shortly after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance , she began her jazz career. As an up and coming jazz artist, Noelle Marie’s classical training shines through her subtle, smooth, and sensual treatment of beloved jazz standards. Her effervescent stage presence, combined with a fresh perspective on classic jazz, make her performances captivating.

Jeremy started studying and performing classically at the age of three. Jazz attracted in high school, and he has been playing and performing seriously ever since.

Always pushing ahead of his classmates, he finished a composing degree at the University of California at Davis in three years, having had many pieces performed by the school's ensembles and serving as staff accompanist.

Out of college, Jeremy worked in opera, musical theater and bands of all styles until he decided to quit written music wanting to understand the roots of music, he played no written music and only improvised for the next 3 years.

An invitation from Art Lande got him to move to Boulder where he discovered rock and roll and has since been writing and performing with numerous groups around the area including 'the moment', 'the left channel', 'curbside', 'the fever' and 'girls on top' and 'Scarlet Grove'.
