Biography

Scarlet Room is where rock music and cabaret meet. It's where the theatrical storylines of Eloise Govedare's lyrics intertwine with the provocative melodies of Aleksandra Weil to create something both sweet and twisted.

The seeds of Scarlet Room were planted when Aleksandra and Eloise met in high school. Both classically trained pianists, Eloise eventually took to the drums while Aleksandra brought her voice to the microphone. After a few years of writing music together, the girls were joined by bassist/guitar player Kris Darr and guitar player Timothy Keller, and the Scarlet Room sound became complete.

The band took a turn in early 2006 when Aleksandra and Eloise embraced their love for musical theater, turning Scarlet Room from a heavy rock band into what they have coined as "a cabaret rock musical". They have created a sound that is wholly unique, like the soundtrack to a dark circus, a sound that whirls around the listener and murmurs exciting promises in their ears. Scarlet Room urges their audience to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the beauty of chaos.

Lyrics

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Cold Blooded Jury

Written By: E.Govedare

To the trial,
Through the wooden doors,
To your seat,
Criminal, eyes on the floor!

The gavel strikes!
And so we begin,
Shame and guilt written,
On the list of my sins,

The jury waits,
I make them uneasy,
Cause these charlatans see,
Their own sins in me

Chorus:
Ladies and Gentlemen
Of the cold-blooded jury
I ask you to please
Not judge me so harshly

Ladies and Gentlemen
Of the cold-blooded jury
I know I'm a sinner
But I'm not sorry

Hello to Hyde

Written By: Words by E. Govedare

Who is this face I hide?
A dark secret self inside
I am Jekyll, No! I am Hyde
Kissing the good goodbye

Why do I lust for you?
You freak, monstrous taboo
You were Jekyll, I made you Hyde
Now kiss the good goodbye

Chorus:
Hello to Hyde
To my demon who fights
Shadowing my vision
Of wrong and right

Hello to Hyde
To my demon who fights
Shadowing my vision
Of wrong and right

Marionette

Written By: E.Govedare

Verse:

On a quiet street, in a quiet shop
A little marionette sits and she dreams
“I want to be a real girl, without strings!”

In the quiet heart of a quiet wooden girl
There’s an imaginary pulse, but it screams
“I am so sick of this world which owns me!”

Chorus:
And she sings,
“dadadadum, dadadadum”
And she sings,
“dadadadum, dadadadum”

Bridge:
Marionette, marionette
Dance for us, dance for us!
