Biography

For the Austin based band, Scarlet’s Eyes, music should do two things: make you move, and make you feel. Singer Eve Springer and Keyboardist Chad Landry formed the group after watching endless shoegazers and deciding what the scene needed was a band that engaged their audience - completely. Ben Post brought his 80s new wave inspired bass, Jason Largent added his impeccable guitar, and, after a series of lineup changes that would make Spinal Tap proud, Leslie King added her Latin inspired drums to the mix.

What did this make?

Scarlet’s Eyes music is a groove oriented mix of new wave and alternative. It is always interesting; always compelling. One fan described it as Rush meets Linda Ronstadt meets Romeo Void. Another, simply, Metrowave! Every song pulls you in with compelling lyrics and unusual structural changes. Again, music should make you move and make you feel.

Live, the band really shines. They build a show! Eve creates a dramatic scene for each song and it’s played out onstage. Props; costume changes; lighting; it is all used to build the right atmosphere to draw the audience into the sonic world that the band creates.

Music should make you move and make you feel. That’s Scarlet’s Eyes.

Red

Written By: Eve Springer

I know grey, it’s my heart’s favorite shade
Thirty years and counting
Who will she be if she puts down her arms will passion reach if not sprouting from rage?
I know grey, its my heart’s favorite shade.

I don’t care just want to get down in there.
Bend me over backwards till I’m
Inside out. Breathe me sing me just open please,
just open please.

Could you heart would you try on another shade.
Maybe heart maybe you could learn to like red.

Her fingers they dig, they dig in to the tender flesh that soaks within.
The first taste slides easily down to begin again to make a sound.
Beating. Beating red, the blood is moving once again, once again

Could you heart would you try on another shade.
Maybe heart maybe you could learn to like red.

Little Hands

Written By: Eve Springer

Strung together with dark ribbon ties
Full of tales and sick, sick lies
the only one to understand for real
turns into a question of
Who was opened most wide
So little hands reach but cant untie

How to bare little hands
Strung up by a ribbons strand
Could we cut
Cut to expose
And would the bleeding fill the holes

Tighten up the dark ribbons knot
With Smiles stretched tight so, so polite
Took their game of playing show and tell
And turns into a game of
How to catch
A thief
With words that they
Could not speak

How to bare little hands
Strung up by a ribbons strand
Could we cut
Cut to expose
And would the bleeding fill the holes

Little hands little hands it is not our war
Little Hands little hands
Do not let them win
Little Hands little hands
We must make it end
Little Hands little hands
What they did begin
Little Hands little hands
Hold each other again

Frozen

Written By: Eve Springer

Did I ever tell you darling, I wish you were here.
Did I ever tell you darling, I miss you dear.
When I turned around and closed the door you couldn’t know I was leaning

Leaning in. I was listening for your breath.

Did you ever tell me darling, I want you near.
Did you ever tell me darling, I need you dear.
When I turned around and closed the door you couldn’t know I was wishing,

Wishing, I was wanting wanting

Then I heard you I heard you sob. And I could

NOT turn the knob. Not turn the knob.

So many ways you see me so unclear.
Trapped in a picture painted from long ago years.
Its all you see Its all I’ll ever be. In your eyes frozen”

Did I ever tell you darling I wish you were here.
Did you ever tell me darling I want you near.
When I turned around and closed the door you couldn’t know”

I was wishing, Wishing, I was wanting
Wanting

The Judge

Written By: Eve Springer

The Judge The Judge The Judge Is In The House
She’s Glaring With Her Mouth
Sitting Up Straight And Tall
She Can See Only Small

The Judge The Judge The Judge Is In The House
She’s Glaring With Her Mouth
Sitting Up Straight And Tall
She Can See Only Small

The Judge Is In The House
And No One Can Get Out
She’s Been Sticking To The Book
Not Letting You Off The Hook
Sees Only What Should
Contempt For Your Weak Hood
Sees Only What Should

The Judge Is In The House
And No One Can Get Out
She’s Pounding On Your Back
Telling You What You Lack
Pounding With Her Stick
Gonna Get At It
Get At It

The judge is in the house the judge is in the house
Glaring with her mouth
Sitting up straight and tall
She can only see small

As She Takes Up Her Finger
And Her Eyes Begin To Squint
Its Time
For You To Repent

The judge is in the house the judge is in the house
Glaring with her mouth
Sitting up straight and tall
She can only see small

The Judge Is In The House And No One Can Get Out
She’s Set You Down A Peg
And Is Washing You Up With Her Wig
At The End Your On The Floor
Less Than The Spit That Left Her Jaw

The Judge Is In The House And No One Can get Out
Red Boiling In Her Ears
Til There's Nothing Good To See
No One Can Survive Her Eyes
On Disgust They Thrive
NO One Can Survive

Traitor

Written By: Eve Springer

Sister in her room with a belt and a man a man a man called Dad.
That’s enough Jefe, said madam. Just so long as she cries out loud.

Buries her head from tales of Sister is Weak. Gotta have their scapegoat. Their Scapegoat Sheep. Open mouth not sound comes out. So she begins to count.

Listen. Listen. Listen for your
Self

Would if there is no Self. Is She so Silent
Can’t even Whimper Much less scream.

I turned away and left her alone, traded you in for a home.
Sister Sister can I forgive the me that traded you in.
