Bio

Joining the latest generation of music that fuses bold, indie sounds with advanced classical training, Scarlett Deering is sewing her place in the Nashville music scene one string at a time. The bright young singer-songwriter has made the leap into the high profile country music capital, offering a fresh take on lyrics, layered harmonies and contemporary arrangements, all rounded out with a silky smooth voice and bright, authentic smile.

A Southern girl at heart, the Texas born violinist starting training at the age of three and completed her professional music degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Citing indie pop, rock concept albums, and 90's punk and emo as her major influences, Scarlett first ventured into the songwriting world in 2009, inspired by colleagues she’d performed with and classes she’d taken. Her developing catalogue of original music introduces an innovative sound of electric pop meets indie rock, heavily layered with vocal harmonies and string arrangements.

Prior to her solo career, Scarlett was a member of the Denton-based band, Seryn, with whom she performed across the country. She played a number of notable venues and stages, including Festival Dete in Quebec, Hillside Festival, The North Oak Cliff Music Festival (featuring Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians), Mariposa Folk Festival, Homegrown Fest and SXSW. Seryn also toured as the opening act for The Lone Bellow, Twin Forks, the latest project from Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional). Other bands Scarlett’s performed with include Art Decade, McAlister Drive and Starhead.

Currently finishing up her first solo album and booking shows around town, Scarlett continues to develop her writing, performing and harmonizing skill set by collaborating with fellow Nashville artists. From orchestrating string quartets to creating unique YouTube covers of her favorite artists, this entrepreneurial spirit keeps her world evolving. In addition to being a talented musician, songwriter and vocalist, Scarlett also excels in the world of visual arts and textiles. An avid seamstress and jewelry designer, she has worked for the art department for the hit TV show “Nashville” and is in the process of developing her own line of original jewelry to be sold via Etsy.

When she’s not submersed in a world of violins, lyrics and performances, Scarlett weaves learning new instruments, drinking copious amounts of hot tea, watching Adventure Time and experimenting in the kitchen into her day-to-day routine.
