Conceived in 2004, sisters Melia & Nerida have been writing original songs and touring the countryside both in Australia and in the States where they received an Honorary Award in the 9th Great Annual Songwriting Competition. Scarlett Affection performed at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Canadian Music Week in Toronto and a gig at the Knitting Factory in NYC. In Australia, they have toured the East Coast and toured regionally with the assistance of a TRAX Touring Grant and appeared at the Blues Fest, Peats Ridge, The Basement, and played live to air on ABC Radio. Sibling harmonies, on stage cheeky banter, revealing storytelling through song and a genuine love and warmth for the art of songwriting sets this act apart. Scarlett Affection is synonymous with big folky ballads, soothing harmonies for the soul and mischievous music for the heart. Influences include Dolly Parton, Tori Amos, Steeleye Span, Fleetwood Mac, Indigo Girls and Crowded House.
