My favorite act of the night was Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs. They were amazing. They were punk rock alive and well and with a pulse approaching a heart attack. They were sexy and ugly at the same time. They were in your face. They covered the Iggy Pop with perfect channeling of the essence of this Punk rock god. I am now a totally sold out fan for these 21st century punk rock gods. Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs have enough of the style of GG Allen to be amazing, but not so much that you have to worry about leaving the show smeared in shit. The energy of this band was impossible to match, and they probably prevented me from being as fully converted to One Eyed Doll as I could have been. One Eyed Doll followed Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs, which unfortunately for them, is an incredibly hard act to follow. Ourstage.com $5000 Grand Prize winner April 2010 $500 winner in Microsoft/Reverbnation contest. "Let's Go" used in "Covered" a documentary about women and tattoos. Several songs used in radio commercials. Performed at SXSW 2010. Just finished a tour including an appearance at RockConn 2010. Panasaya Clothing endorsement.
Opened for Mistfits, Lords of Acid, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, DI. Currently recording new album.
Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs are lead by Lezlie Deane (aka Scary Cherry) who brings an automatic fan base from her acting career which includes well know films such as Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (she killed Freddy!), 976-EVIL and numerous TV appearances.
Lezlie was also a member of the controversial band Fem 2 Fem, who scored a top 10 dance hit and toured with NIN, Marilyn Manson and Type O Negative and a women's Roller Derby Allstar. She brings a unique and eclectic fan base to the wild world of Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs.
