Bio
Von Henmon has been busy. With a few dozen original punk tunes under his belt, Von Henmon has assembled The Scary Hand Band, a cadre of seasoned musicians who have performed with the likes of Jackie Wilson and Lee Atwater.
Von Henmon is known for pioneering one of the first punk bars (Von Henmon’s) in the South in the late 70’s. His music is heavily influenced by The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Stranglers and The New York Dolls.
Rather than sticking with the two minute song punk formula, the band forges its own sound with songs that stretch out instrumentally. Thanks to a strong rhythm section provided by Joe Sligh on guitar (Whatever, Upsetters Review, Vintage One Guitars), Jules Riley on bass (Whatever, Jackie Wilson) and Finklea Tomlinson on drums (Flat Out Strangers), improvisational dual lead guitar work
by Billy Chapman (Glass Gnats, Spook The Horse, Dead Sea Squirrels, Pound Foolish), and Steve Armato (Vintage One Guitars) takes these originals to a unique space.
See them live at the Art Bar, Columbia, SC, Thursday, March 16th, 9:30 pm
