"Scarzeo on Making Music; Maino; Life in Prison - TI50"

Thisis50 & Young Jack Thriller recently spoke with Scarzeo for an exclusive inerview! - THISIS50.COM

"Scarzeo - Promise [New Song]"

Scarzeo makes his HNHH debut with "Promise".

Some will argue New York no longer has a distinct sound, whether or not that's true, there's certainly a lot more variety coming out of the region. Scarzeo is a promising new voice from the city, and from one listen to his new record, "Promise," he establishes his unique style.

If you were to trace him to someone out of the NY rap lineage, there are elements of Max B in his hook delivery. Still, he keeps things decidedly technical on the surrounding verses, all the while choosing some hard production that's just traditional enough to pack his multi-syllabic rhymes into tightly, but adventurous enough to give him some space to experiment.

Quotable Lyrics:
My money won't fold up
Shit, know to act right
We paid in full on the first
Do it like Mekhi Phife - HOTNEWHIPHOP.COM

"Scarzeo - Promise"

There aren't many rappers from the Virgin Islands. To be honest, I can't really think of a rapper who has repped them. Allow us to introduce you to Scarzeo, who is looking to be the guy who puts St. Thomas on the map. His new single, "Promise," showcases some clever wordplay over a thumping instrumental courtesy of Legion. He even threw in a very rare Paul Millsap reference, so props to that. The jury is still out on how far Scarzeo will go, but if this record is any indication, he could make some waves before the year is out. Look for a music video for "Promise" to come out sooner than later. - 2DOPEBOYZ.COM

"TRACK OF THE WEEK: SCARZEO- "PROMISE""

With the dominate genres in the region ranging from bouyon and calypso, to reggaeton and soca, it’s very rare that a native of the Virgin Islands would have anything to contribute to the hip-hop community that is until you hear St. Thomas born rapper Scarzeo. Recently Scarzeo shared his latest song and his first in a little bit over a year “Promise” showing that he is definitely a talent to keep your eye on in the coming future. - EARLYBBQ.COM

"Who to Watch Wednesday: Scarzeo [Exclusive Interview]"

Today’s Who to Watch artist is The U.S. Virgin Island’s very own – Scarzeo. Scarzeo sat down for an exclusive interview with VINNYBIGGAVELI where he opened up about his music career.

After working at his craft for almost 5 years now, Scarzeo told VB that he is currently working on a project called 15 to Life that he’s excited about the upcoming release of.

Born and raised on the island of St. Thomas, Scarzeo is out to make some noise in the rap game. Influenced by rappers like Jay Z, Tupac, and Rick Ross, his rough and hood sound is definitely reminiscent of some of the greats.

In addition to popular rappers, he also cites artists like Sam Smith and Adele as great musical influences.

Not only has rap and soul music played a role in Scarzeo’s growth as an artist, being from the Virgin Islands he grew up on the sounds of Bob Marley which was frequently played by his mother. He remembers the first album he purchased being Bob Marley’s Catch a Fire.

Scarzeo mentioned that his name comes from his past and is associated with the streets and a lot of negative things, but that rap music is kind of his savior:

“If I wasn’t rapping right now I would probably be in the streets…I feel like Rap is what actually made me divert from all that stuff I was involved with before” Scarzeo says.

When it comes to artists Scarzeo would like to work with, he named artists like CeeLo Green, Lyfe Jennings, and John Legend for their soulful sounds:

“To me they just have that afrocentric, soulful vibe about them, and I like that sound” he said.

Within the next 1-2 years, the rapper hopes to be touring, signing other artists, and potentially making a movie about his life.

In honor of Chris Rock’s Top Five, I had to ask Scarzeo his Top Five. In no particular order he listed:

-Tupac

-Biggie

-Jay Z

-Jadakiss

-Rick Ross

On his admiration of Ross, he said:

“He knew how to bring a great fusion of making the south sound like the north…He kinda meshed those two together and was able to still be lyrically talented with it”

It was interesting that he named Rick Ross, because to me his sound and style (and maybe even look a little) is very similar.

"Pay Attention 2: Scarzeo"

Hip-hop’s next big star may very well emerge from St. Thomas in The U.S. Virgin Islands. Scarzeo possesses a gruff flow and a whole lot of gusto that might make you think of Rick Ross, but there’s a storytelling element coursing through his rhymes that’s reminiscent of Nas and DMX. It’s not that simple to pinpoint his sound and style though. That’s what really stands out about Scarzeo is on tracks like “Date of Birth,” he bursts through the gate with bars locked and loaded to knock listeners out in the best way possible. His delivery is so potent you immediately feel it with emotion practically bubbling over. The Islands and beyond have a brand new hip-hop superstar in the making. Pay attention to him... - ARTISTDIRECT.COM

A rebirth can often happen at the most unexpected of times. For Delroy "Scarzeo" Fleming, that moment came while incarcerated in New York City. The St. Thomas native stared down a sentence of 15 years to life for drug charges, and he decided to make a change.

"I wanted to turn tragedy into triumph,"

"I had an opportunity to sit and reflect about where my life was at. I decided if I had a chance at freedom again, I was going to start taking music seriously. That was what I wanted to do with my life at that point."
