On their debut album, Life at Fantasy Lounge Illinois-based Scattergun sound like several different bands all morphed into a solitary group. Like Sybil only with music instead of Sally Field. At different times they sound like Paul Westerburg, Uncle Tupelo, the Beatles and on "Morning Star" they've got a definite Jayhawks vibe going.
With the southern California laid-back groove, and Jeff Falk's warm timbre you'll forget about winters blankets of snow, sleet, and freezing cold and feel like you are somewhere full of sun, beaches, blankets and bingo.

Life at Fantasy Lounge is the debut release for the Chicago based band Scatttergun. Musically the band marries the styles of Americana and roots rock with just a few twinges of alt. country and folk also added in to the mix.
“The Lie,” is one of those alt. country meets roots rock songs that gets things started. The song deals with how sometimes the picture that we paint in our mind about someone often turns out to be much better than the actual person.
Some of the highlight tracks from this release include, “Duluth,” a track that fans of Bob Dylan will find enjoyable. “Killing The Cure,” is one of the several straight up rockers that can be found on the release. The song deals with trying to find the right balance of fitting in with the cool crowd while not losing your own identity.
Life at Fantasy Lounge also ends up strong with the track, “Runway 4-22,” that’s named for a runway that’s found at New York’s LaGuardia airport. Musically the song features a blend of folk and roots rock.
The last track found on Life at Fantasy Lounge is titled “Thirty Pieces.” While the band says that the song has no real religious connection, with lyrics that mentions Judas along with the songs title and the fact the Judas sold out Jesus to the Roman authorities for ‘Thirty Pieces’ of silver, it’s hard not to draw some religious connection to the song.
I liked what Scatttergun offers up on their release, Life at Fantasy Lounge and think that a lot of other people will too. If you’re into a roots rock sound with lots of good guitar work then you should give Scatttergun’s music a listen. - The CD Reviewer - C.W. Ross

Since its inception, Scattergun has been a rock band that has simply played what it likes, making for sets that may wander down both familiar side streets and those less explored. It’s debut album, Life at Fantasy Lounge, navigates some of those same avenues, mapping a course based on the landmarks of its influences – whether country tinged or burned by a definitive rock crunch.
Vocalist Jeff Falk and guitarist Michael Paeth bring more than ten years of collaborative writing to the group, several of which were spent with Chicago-based Gold Coast Refuse. The rhythm section of Doug Jensen (bass/vocals), and Dan Donahoe (drums/percussion), are both veteran players on the Chicago music scene.
Falk pens lyrics that, admittedly, are apt to take a dark turn but are not without hook. Paeth builds counter melodies with sliding guitar riffs, while Jensen and Donahoe drive the swirl to its rightful rock destination.
Scattergun’s formula is simply that it doesn’t have one, opting to write, record and perform rock and roll without excuses or explanation. In an industry where every band has a gimmick, Scattergun has none... which makes for a truly unique rock and roll band.
