"Houston’s Own Scenic Woods Takes Center Stage!"

Houston’s Own Scenic Woods Takes Center Stage!
Scenic Woods – The New Rock & Shock Value Expert!
May 19, 2007 – George R. Brown Convention Center
Reporting: Kompari E. Rudison

Houstonians welcomed the annual Black Expo with open arms. Unfortunately, there were not enough arms to embrace all of the Black Owned Businesses participants as in past convention days. I’m almost certain, had there been low-riders and a slew of hip-hop artists, the halls of GRB may have contained wall to wall patrons. Am I hatin’? Nope! Just stating facts that you’re very well aware of. We’re so eager to say, “I support Black businesses”, but we can’t find YOU when we congregate to discuss community growth, trade our products and services, receive financial advice and so much more. So, don’t just talk about it, be about it, ya dig! But then again, that’s another story that I’ll soon address. This is about the BLONDE BOMB!

Once again Houstonians were not let down with the fabulous lineup for the annual Houston Black Expo held at the George R. Brown Convention Center, May 19, 2007.
A great way to keep the ball rolling is to select one of Houston’s own most recognizable talents opening for the headliner, “Musiq Soulchild.”

What a wise selection it was to bring forth none other than the BET Wild Out Wednesday’s Winner and Houston’s own, multi-talented artist / musician, “Scenic Woods.”

However, I’m quite sure they had no idea, that a tall, long legged gorgeous blonde bomb was about to take center stage and demand their undivided attention. Scenic Woods has that immediate effect on her audiences abroad. Once the amazed eye popping gawking stops and turns into the pleasant satisfied smiles, the real treat begins. She’s a true vocalist! Scenic Woods vocals are seasoned, balanced and full of energy. She has the talent and gift of stardom wrapped all around her.

Lights, cameras, action it was DJ’s, Dancers, Bumpin’ Bass and in struts the Blonde Blonde in a powder pink tutu, white tank with a wide pink patent belt, black fishnet roughed up stockings, 5” inch stiletto’s and the show was on! Bio

The Blonde Bomb

The words, brilliance and fascination are synonymous and holds true for the quick description of the Houston native performer, Scenic Woods. However, a more in-depth description would entail the vocal talents and beauty of Lena Horne, the legs and perseverance of Tina Turner, the eclectic styles of Grace Jones, and the crazy sexy coolness of Janet Jackson; then you’ll have a good idea of what’s in store when you see and hear Scenic Woods.

Scenic stands a stunning 6’ ft tall, strums a lead guitar releasing her infectious distinguishing sounds while systematically drawing music lovers of all genres to take immediate recognition of the Blonde Bomb. She’s a genuine trendsetter! It was Scenic Woods that sported the Blonde Mohawk first, prior to other major female artists wearing the design. Scenic is a fusion of Rock, Urban, Alternative, Hip-Hop and Soul that forms into her uniqueness of a welcomed new sound. Her splendid new single, “In A Box” describes industry antics for categorizing talent, placing them in set genres and crippling the artists to exploit their talents in other areas.

Although born Jamelyn Williams, she has adopted the name “Scenic Woods” that originates from a popular subdivision in Houston, Texas where she grew up. Scenic has taken that name to a national level through on-air broadcasting on BET’s 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesday’s contest in the Fall of 2006. Not only did the solo-act Blonde Bomb win the competition against artists performing as groups with dancers; Scenic Woods broke a network record with the most votes ever generated for the segment. Her stylish flavor of vocals and grandstand performance instantly launched her to become one of the most sought after talents in decades.

More recently, Scenic Woods opened the show for Musiq SoulChild at the Black Expo / George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX and was well received by unanimous applause and cheers. Prior to that dazzling performance, Scenic Woods has graced the stages of the Pantene Total You Tour, the Fort Bend County Fair, Scott Gertner’s Sky Bar, Omni Central, M-Bar, Red Cat Jazz Café, the Make A Wish Foundation, Texas Southern University as well as many other venues and events.

In addition, Scenic has appeared in the popular play, “Everybody’s Man”, Co-starred in the Pan African-American Indie Film “Bella”, produced and choreographed the Def Squad trio group, “Tha Truth”, sang background for Faith Evans, became an instructor for the N.C.A. (National Cheerleaders Association) and cheered professionally for the NFL for two consecutive years. She has received press reviews in the Houston Chronicle, Urban Network Magazine (Indie News), Rolling Out Magazine, and The Houston Press.

Scenic Woods has worked with industry icons Missy Elliott, Erick Sermon, Faith Evans, and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and looks forward to collaborating with numerous artists, whom share her like passion of great sounds for the soul.
She’s funny, intelligent, giving, sincere, strong, independent, talented, and outspoken as most innovative Virgo’s are. Readers don’t sleep on this pioneering talent! Scenic Woods is the new face the entertainment industry longs for. Be sure to catch Scenic Woods on BET Wild Out Wednesday’s, August 8, 2007, and cast your vote for Scenic online at: www.bet.com For more information visit Scenic Woods website at: www.myspace.com/scenicwoods.
