The best kept secret in music

"It's sure easy slapping a large bright orange “hard rock” label on Schema. What's not easy, is categorizing them past that point, or even understanding why this CD is more redeeming than that of their mainstream genre-mates. Ensnaring even me—often critical of “hard rock” bands—is the first sign that Schema play something that disregards labels and cliché....Between The Two” starts the album off nicely, introducing the listener to Schema's ability to draw the listener in, with lunging, melodic vocals...The chorus in “Vita Cessit” features soaring vocals and cathartic screams. If this song is an accurate example of Schema's future as a band, I'm more than satisifed...“Frail” is probably the most memorable track off the album, and will find it's way into your mental jukebox quickly. Bio
Schema, based out of NW Arkansas, formed in January of 2003. They began playing local shows while building a following in the local music scene and getting promotion from local radio stations. In August of 2003 the guys headed to Detroit to demo their material. After gathering some national touring, from east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between, the band finished up their debut album "the declining relationship between the mind and the motive" which was released in April of 2005.
Schema's recent EP shows they have the potential to make their mark in the music scene with their blend of melodic rock and aggressive riffs behind an often frustrated vocal pattern. Vocalist, Avrivett, uses a wide range of dynamics and ethereal melodic phrasing which compliment the soft, ambient textures and often heavy, droning guitar riffs. To complete the rhythmic dynamism the guys focus on the syncopated pattern and harmony relationship between the bass and drums.
