"Bristol boys Schnauser combine sardonic lyrics with sunny melodies resulting in a pleasing album of intelligent pop"

Schnauser are a trio from Bristol who smear flip pop-cultural analysis over Beach Boys harmonies and the sort of baroque inflections favoured by 1970s technicians such as Todd Rundgren, the Raspberries and the Electric Light Orchestra. Thus, Cosmic Ordering Service examines the spiritual theories of Noel Edmonds over a truncated guitar part XTC might have been proud of; a bus driver is disturbed by seeing twins on the Peppery pastiche Twins of Evil; World of Whimsy alternates low-end noise with slices of sunshine pop reminiscent of the Turtles; and the archly upbeat Last One Picked, fittingly the final track, is a guilty, piano-led pleasure. - The Sunday Times

Bio

If you’ve been searching for the exact spot where a geyser of sparkling Rundgrenesque melody intersects with delicious Kinksian melancholia, Canterbury Scene conviviality and the pitiless basilisk gaze of Chris Morris, look no further. It’s right here.

The last time we had cause to consider Bristol’s literate, cineaste purveyors of roseate neo-psych prog-pop with a fistful of thorns was the 2010 release of their second album, The Sound Of Meat. Since then, they’ve converted screeds of gig-goers to their cause via rapturously-received headline appearances, sexy support slots and festival fraternising, and have just sprinkled the last handful of poisoned hundreds and thousands on to their wholly remarkable new album Where Business Meets Fashion.

Previous live supports: Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, The Lovely Eggs, Blitzen Trapper, Cud, The Zombies, Real Estate, and Jonny (Euros Childs & Norman Blake).
