Bio
Songwriters Derek and Shawn have a musical association that dates back to 1997 when they met in Grande Prairie, Alberta. They formed a band called Mantra which opened for such established acts as Great White, Quiet Riot, and the Smalls. In 2003 they moved to Vancouver and formed Scissortooth with ex-Guitarist Jay MacNutt and Bassist Ryan Boyd.
By 2006 Scissortooth had played many local venues, developed a dedicated and enthusiastic fan base and recorded and self-released their first album. Shortly after, MacNutt and Boyd left the band and seasoned Bassist Rik Kroll (who has played with such bands as Teltos, Shuvelhead and Muddslinger) jumped on the opportunity to play with such an act as Scissortooth.
