Bio
A native Californian, singer songwriter Scot Byrd creates original music fusing his highly melodic and soulful performance style with a wide range of musical genres, ranging from pop rock to latin jazz and world beat influenced rhythms.
Born in San Francisco, Scot's musically inclined parents taught him to sing three part harmony (in Latin!) at the age of five on idyllic weekend day trips through the wine country. As he grew older, their wanderlust led to the family’s eastward migration, with Scot developing musical milestones in each port of call. At the age of 14, he first started writing songs somewhere on the interstate between Texas and Kentucky. At 16, he toured Europe with a choir and orchestra, before landing a vocal scholarship to a southern university. But his home state beckoned, and he wound up back in California where he earned a theatre degree from CalArts and an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA's Graduate Screenwriting Program.
Even though he is multi-talented, Scot still considers music to be the foundation for his creative expression. He's based in Venice, CA.
