BandPopAdult Contemporary

Witty and catchy, great melodies mixed with emotionally driven lyrics. A must hear!

Biography

Scott Gallegos presents an opportunity for thought in an absence of requirements. His music can be justly described as both intellectually stimulating as well as ambient. His ability to mix welcoming melodies and creative storytelling have captivated audiences since he hit the local Portland scene in 2005. His songs manage to find a way to speak to the core of the lost, the romantic, and the heartbroken all at the same time, while allowing all to find a point of empathy.

"For a writer, the ability to be vulnerable can often make the difference between a song that is merely pleasing and a song that actually allows people inside to experience it for themselves, Scott's hospitality is on par with the latter. Whether it's a quiet cafe or a rowdy bar, Scott opens the door and asks everyone if they would like to come in...and they always do."

"The songs that Scott writes traverese the fine line between poignant expression and ironic observation. Just when you think he's given you everything, Scott turns a corner and leads you through another unexpected journey."

In support of his Debut album, "est. 1976", Scott has put together an amazing group of local musician. This 5 piece band will put forth to recreate the sounds pieced together to make "est. 1976" the listening album that it is.

Lyrics

In the Clear

Written By: Scott Gallegos

Caught by surprise that Christmas eve,
That look in your eye’s.
With tears of love streaming down our cheeks,
For a gift we can’t buy.

And everything’s right, nothing is wrong,
There’s nothing but kind words where we belong,
Here on my sweet mental vacation.

I’ll go for a ride to set me free,
To loosen my grip on reality.
I’ll head for a world where pastures lye,
Where there’s nothing around I don’t recognize.

Then everything’s right, nothing is wrong,
There’s nothing but kind words where we belong,
Here on my sweet mental vacation.

Thanks for the dinner my dear,
The kids are in bed and we’re here in the clear.

And everything’s right, nothing is wrong,
There’s nothing but kind words where we belong,
Here on my sweet mental vacation.

Alibi

Written By: Scott Gallegos

I took a walk outside,
A few cold moments just to clear my mind.
One foot falls before the other,
On a quest to find more time.

Now I’m not saying you should come back crawling,
I think it’s fair for you to know , I haven’t stopped falling

And I will always love you,
Cross my fingers hope to die.
I pray no other lover will ever rise above me,
Or be that twinkle in your eye. That’s my alibi.

I know you have your life.
I know there’s things you want that I just can’t provide.
But I’m dying deep inside,
I need you here with me so I can feel alive.

Now I’m not saying you should come back crawling,
I think it’s fair for you to know , I haven’t stopped falling.

And I will always love you,
Cross my fingers hope to die.
I pray no other lover will ever rise above me,
Or be that twinkle in your eye. That’s my alibi.

I’m hanging from a string that won’t hold a thimble.
I’m resting all my dreams right here in limbo.
I’m waiting for a sign, to tell me it’s alright.
Won’t you come to me tonight, won’t you come to me tonight.

Off The Hook

Written By: Scott Gallegos

She was a girl who came of age,
Always blond and tall always beautiful and praised.
Every move she made was staged,
She loved her life just like a lion loves it’s cage.

She said she never could relax,
Everything she did she said required her to pack.
Her friends were always on the phone,
She couldn’t even play her solitaire alone. (Chorus)

And she said take me now to every place that I have never been,
And don’t let me off the hook again.
Treat me like the fly I am just sitting on the wall,
And don’t let me run before I learn to crawl.

Taking steps to finding her own way,
Taking on a heart just so she could give hers’ away.
Learning love is nothing you can raise,
Just another purchase that gets better every day. (Chorus)

Hold me now, I’m older now,
And I’m finding out what it’s all about.
I’ll take my time, hell I’ll stand in line,
Cause I know I’ll be fine.

Living life with every breath she takes,
Getting everything she can from all of her mistakes.
Looking past that early morning rain,
Seeing silver linings and shedding all the blame. (Chorus)

They Said

Written By: Scott Gallegos and Jason Schreiber

You know I never thought you were that pretty,
Just another game for me to play.
A chance for me to show my friends I am witty.
Maybe cut a notch along the way.

The way you always come to me for answers,
To questions that would plague you through the day.
It’s like you wanted me to cure your cancers,
Like maybe I should hear what people say.

Cause they said I would love you, they said I would need you,
They said that I would lay in bed at night thinking of you.
Well now I’m sure that it won’t be long.
Until I don’t love you, until I don’t need you,
Until I don’t lay in bed at night thinking of you.
Till then I’ll have to hold you in my arms.

Some how I’m not convinced that you are perfect,
I know that there’s a flaw I haven’t seen.
Something just to say that you’re not worth it,
Would give me all I need to break this clean.

In my arms. I will hold you in my arms.

Well maybe I should wait another weekend,
Before I through you back into the sea.
Hell maybe we can make it in the deep end,
Maybe I will see what they all see.

Cause they said I would love you, they said I would need you,
They said that I would lay in bed at night thinking of you.
Well now I’m not so sure that it won’t be long.
Until I don’t love you, until I don’t need you,
Until I don’t lay in bed at night thinking of you.
Till then I’ll have to hold you in my arms.
Till then I’ll have to hold you in my arms.

Dreams of him

Written By: Scott Gallegos

He looked back from his front porch to reflect on what he had grown,
His story so much shorter than the ones he’d heard and know.
He set out just like everyday but never found his way there,
Now his story just goes on and on and on.

She never thought this day would come, they’d planned till they were 91
To raise their family strong beneath the cross.
She held his babies strong and cried the days after their father died
And swore that he’d go on and on and on.

Because there was love in his life
And he left it in his kids and wife
Now his story will go on and on and on
Because he was love

She sees his pictures everywhere and prays that time will stop the stares
From the people who bring flowers to her door.
There’s no way they could understand, the holes left by his absent hand
While the dreams of him go on and on and on.

But there was love in his life,
And he left it in his kids and wife
Now his story just goes on and on and on
Because he was love
And he knew love
And there was love in his life
And he left it in his kids and wife
Now his story just goes on and on and on.
