BandFolkAdult Contemporary

I want to tap your toes and pull at your heartstrings. I write and perform music that makes you think and feel and reflect and laugh. Most of my music has been hand crafted from life's experiences, the love, the loss, the fun, and the ridiculous.

Biography

Heart-wrenching lyrics wrapped in beautiful acoustic rythms, this is how I would describe the music that pours from my life.
I have experienced a great deal in my life from personal struggles to profound loss to deep love and devotion. My music expresses my deepest sorrows and greatest joys. It is my desire that it brings hope, consolation and encouragement as it entertains and amuses.
I live in Haverhill, MA. Here, my wife and I raised our seven children together. They are the inspiration for most of my music.

Datenight
(Thursday Night With You)

copyright 2006 Scott S. Hannan

Monday’s working and all the jerkin’ from sunup to sundown. "I need you just all of your time".

Tuesday’s wake up seems earlier still. Demanding is stronger. It’s soakin' up all of our will.

Wednesday’s nearer but everything’s clearer. There’s too much to do but there’s never ever much time.

We wake up again after not enough sleep to go through it all over ‘cause work never keeps.

The pace is amazing. It’s wearin’ us through. Spinning like crazy through all the ado but it’s…

Chorus:

Thursday night with you. It’s my Thursday night with you

Monday’s gone, mostly all the day long. I don’t see the ones that I care to be with. It’s my song.

Tuesday’s traffic will sweep me away, a tide of commuters, receding too early each day.

Wednesday’s here and I’m weary and then, I’m thankful for living and looking forward again.

We wake up again after not enough sleep to go through it all over ‘cause work never keeps.

The pace is amazing. It’s wearin’ us through. Spinning like crazy through all the ado but it’s…

Chorus:

Thursday night with you

Bridge:

You’ll fix your make-up, we’ll stare into each other’s eyes.

Dinner for two is the perfect retreat for my lover and me on my…

Chorus:

Thursday night with you, it’s my Thursday night with you.

Amy, I fell in love with you.

Amy, I fell in love with you.

Maybe it’s the way you’re talkin’ to me.

Maybe it’s the way you look right through me.

Or maybe it’s the calm that’s in your eyes, the gentle way you make me realize that…

Chorus:

I don’t even care just hold me. I won’t try to guess ‘cause I don’t need to know. I don’t even care just hold me. Amy, I’m in love with you.

Maybe, you’ll grow to love me too.

Baby, I think you love me too.

Maybe it’s the way you smile to greet me.

Maybe it’s the way your smiles they treat me.

Or maybe it’s the calm that’s in your eyes, the gentle way you make me realize that…

Chorus:

I don’t even care just hold me. I won’t try to guess ‘cause I don’t need to know. I don’t even care just hold me. Amy, I’m in love with you.

I don’t even care just hold me. I won’t try to guess ‘cause I don’t need to know. I don’t even care just hold me. Amy, I’m in love with you.

Don't Leave Them Alone

Don’t Leave Them Alone

copyright 2003 Scott S. Hannan

Someplace and I don’t really know where,
but sometime and I don’t really know when,

Something’s got to give. Someone’s going to live and some die.

Chorus:

Take them by the hand and cry.

Touch them on the cheek and ask why

but don’t you leave them alone.

Somewhere and I don’t really know where

But someone and I don’t really know who.

Someone is alone, someone that you’ve known. Some cry

Chorus:

Take them by the hand and cry.

Touch them on the cheek and ask why

but don’t you leave them alone.

Chorus:

Take them by the hand and cry.

Touch them on the cheek and ask why

but don’t you leave them alone.

The Leaf song

Written By: Scott S. Hannan

I met a little leaf. I watched as it stumbled, and tumbled and jumped, along the path.

So I followed along behind. I shuffled and stumbled and walked along the way.

I took a look behind. I wondered from where it had come and how far it was going

But the leaf had come to rest so I gave it a kick for a push. Seems that’s all that it needed.

Cause when the wind rose up again, boy that leaf took on its way. It seemed to know where it was going.

And so it will be, with every man and woman and child born of God.

And so it will be with every man who’s born of spirit. He’s spirit.

Now the leaf began to stray, then it bounced and struggled and shook. I guess it sort of got stuck.

So I looked way down the path and thought, oh what a shame, that little guy really could have made it.

I wanted to blame the grass or maybe the rocks or the sticks. I didn’t know what to think.

But whom the son has set free… is he free? Yes he’s free indeed.

But whom the son has set free… is he free? Yes he’s free indeed.

Now as I looked around, I noticed there were 10’s and 100’s and 1000’s there were leaves all around.

So I watched as the wind came by, some jumped, some shook, some swayed but nobody was moving.

Don’t my sheep know my voice? Don’t you care to run the race; I’ve set before you?

Don’t my sheep know my voice? Don’t you care to run the race; I’ve set before you?

I met a little leaf. I watched as it stumbled, and tumbled and jumped, along the path.

Hammer Me Silly

Hammer me silly. Drop me with a monkey wrench. Tie my arms behind me. Lock me away until I understand that if craziness rubs off it rubs on too.

I remember the day that I met you, I thought we’d have so much fun.

Looking back over my shoulder, I should have turned and run.

And it’s not that you’re much worse than me.

Not that I’m much better than you.

It’s just when it comes to trouble you know,

It takes one to think but two to go.

Chorus: If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

I remember then thinking and shuddering ‘bout where I would be now.

Now I ‘m thinking and shuddering and mostly wondering how,

We ever survived the things we did.

When you and I were just a kid.

Now, I’ve gone on and come to know

That God has made a better road to go.

Chorus: If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

I’d like if you could come over and see how things turned out.

It’s not that I’ve come a rich man. There’s nothing to brag about.

Many a day we got away.

many a night out with the flow,

It’s just if you keep up the trouble you know,

It’ll be lights and sirens and away again you’ll go.

Chorus: If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you? All wrong!, all wrong!

Chorus: If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

Chorus: If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

If you see me hangin’ around again, do me this favor won’t you?

Hammer me silly. Drop me with a monkey wrench. Tie my arms behind me. Lock me away until I understand that if craziness rubs off it rubs on too.
