Feeling a bit camera shy

Bio

I started writing songs around age 7 and would sing them for my parents friends when they came over... around the same time Santa Clause left me a cherry red electric guitar for Christmas. I picked it up now and then but it wasn't until i was 16 and traded in my electric for an acoustic that I started taking music seriously and knew that music was what I wanted to do with my life. I started writing songs with a new depth that made friends and family cry when they heard them and that was really inspiring, that my music could have that kind of impact on peoples hearts.

My sound has been described as folk in genre, organic, raw original and deep. I want my music to always be like this, never forfeiting heart, presence or realness for "studio perfection"... when recording I would rather miss a note but "feel" it then have my songs so electronically altered that the "me" is taking out of it. This really bugs some people but we have to be true to ourselves and genuine or we'll just sound like everybody else. Although the message in my songs is sometimes intense I get people saying they feel peaceful when listening to my songs which seems like a cool mixture.

When I'm asked what music has influenced me its really hard... I grew up with all kinds of jazz and classical playing in the house and listening to the "oldies" station on the radio sometimes... I fell in love with Bob Dylan for a while and Im sure I was influenced by him but really I love all music and have been exposed to a little bit of everything which Im thankful for, I'm glad I was never stuck in one genre or with one artist because I think it helped me find my own sound and what gives my music a freshness and originality. Right at this very moment the music in my car is "King Charles", "Mumford and sons" and "Vampire Weekend"...
