OIL
Written By: scott murray
“Oil”
Verse
We fear a recession, so let’s start a war
We’ll choose an asset worth fighting for
Something that keeps the home fires burning
Something like oil that keeps business wheels turning
Now we need a cover, our excuse for war
There’s WMD’s, they’re worth fighting for
We’ll create the story; we’ll sell the spin
We’ll preach to the masses and suck them all in
Chorus
Let’s sell our soul for a barrel of oil
Let’s spill some blood on a foreign soil
But hell, my car’s still running so I don’t give a damn
I offer my thanks to good old Uncle Sam
Verse
No WMD’s; hell that weakens our case
Now we’re stuck between a rock and that other place
But as long as the oil is still able to flow
That’s all that Wall Street seems to want to know
Yet my stocks are up and the economy’s good
And the big wheels are turning just the way that they should
And it all goes to prove some idiot’s dream
That the end does in fact justify the means
Chorus
Let’s sell our soul for a barrel of oil
Let’s spill some blood on a foreign soil
But hell, my car’s still running so I don’t give a damn
I offer my thanks to good old Uncle Sam
Oil has a smell and a slimy feel
And if you grease my palm you’ll seal the deal
When profits are born from such a sting
It’s big, bad oil that pulls the strings
Chorus
Let’s sell our soul for a barrel of oil
Let’s spill some blood on a foreign soil
But hell, my car’s still running so I don’t give a damn
I offer my thanks to good old Uncle Sam

COMPETITIVE MAN
Written By: SCOTT MURRAY
“Competitive Man”
Verse
Watching that bead of sweat
Drippin’ slowly down your neck
You sure playing this game as if you want to win
And while I hate to lose
This time I’m just planning to cruise
Wanna see that glow you’ve got that comes from within
Chorus
But being a competitive man
I’m likely to forget my plan
And win this game with one determined burst
So I aim to come from behind
Right on that finish line
And call for a print to see who got there first
Verse
But now you’ve upped your speed
And taken a narrow lead
Girl, there’s such a determined look set on your face
Yet I’m lovin’ the way you move
As you settle into your groove
And my view’s just great when running in second place
Chorus
But being a competitive man
I’m likely to forget my plan
And win this game with one determined burst
So I aim to come from behind
Right on that finish line
And call for a print to see who got there first
Verse
Then just in the nick of time
We crossed that finish line
Girl, I was sitting so close right on your lovely tail
Just two seconds more
I’d have passed you for sure
But I never like to see my game plans fail
Chorus
Although I’m a competitive man
I didn’t forget my plan
And win this game with one determined burst
So I came from behind
Right on that finish line
And I no longer care who really got there first

DON'T UNDERSTAND
Written By: Scott Murray
“Don’t Understand”
(Female)
verse:
You played guitar
Just for me
You took my heart
With your poetry
I was the prose
You used each day
Under your spell
Till caste away
chorus:
We used to walk in the moonlight
You used to take hold of my hand
Now all I have left are the memories
That I guess I just don’t understand
verse:
When I see you now
You walk on by
No recognition
Left in your eye
You chose to end
What I thought was complete
I’m still in pain
Still losing sleep
chorus:
We used to walk in the moonlight
You used to take hold of my hand
Now all I have left are the memories
That I guess I just don’t understand
I don’t understand
verse:
Life must go on
Or so they say
But this song in my head
Just won’t go away
I was your prose
I thought for all time
Now erased from your script
The discarded line
chorus:
We used to walk in the moonlight
You used to take hold of my hand
Now all I have left are the memories
That I guess I just don’t understand
I don’t understand
I don’t understand
I don’t understand

SHEPHERDS
Written By: Scott Murray
“Shepherds”
verse:
Our lives are shaped by dangerous souls
As the shepherds create their spin
They spin their yarns from the finest words
And the sheep are always sucked in
And shepherds know how to control their flock
Shepherds live to wield their power
They no longer fleece you out in the fields
They do it from their ivory towers
chorus:
Fashion spread; music craze
Latest fad, the shepherd’s way
Hollywood hype, political speak
All designed to lure their sheep
Purchase this, chew their fat
You no longer think; you only act
But there’s a group they’ll never meet
As we walk our mile on a different street
verse:
Some of us won’t follow the sheep
Can’t stand the tone of their constant bleat
We don’t move our feet to the shepherd’s beat
We walk our mile on a different street
We see shepherds as a scourge to defeat
We long for the day they lose their mystique
And while sheep are shorn of their gold and their fleece
We walk our mile on a different street
chorus:
Fashion spread; music craze
Latest fad, the shepherd’s way
Hollywood hype, political speak
Are all designed to lure their sheep
Purchase this, chew their fat
You no longer think; you only act
But there’s a group they’ll never meet
As we walk our mile on a different street
And the shepherds lament their long lost sheep
As we walk our mile on a different street.

BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD
Written By: Scott Murray
“Been Down That Road”
verse:
There’s a voice in my head sending me a call
And it strikes a chord never heard before
But having been played, it demands airtime
A new sweet distraction in this life of mine
I know, I know you’ve heard it all before
Another “pipe dream” I want to explore
Can you forgive me if I take more time?
For a new sweet distraction in this life of mine
chorus:
Been down, been down
Been down that road before
Going back down, back down
Back down once more
verse:
Would I still hear the voice if we were content?
Could it stir my soul, cause me such torment?
As “no” is the answer, I need more time
For a new sweet distraction in this life of mine
So I’ll follow my voice despite your concerns
But I give you my word, I shall return
Yet if its melody fades, I may still need to find
A new sweet distraction for this life of mine
chorus:
Been down, been down
Been down that road before
Going back down, back down
Back down once more
And I feel your tears as I walk out the door
Heading back down, back down
Back down that road once more
