Scraps of Brass

 Chicago, Illinois, USA
BandRockClassic Rock

Classic rock, oldies and R&B with great vocals, a dynamite 6-piece horn section and a glove-tight rhythm section. And, yes, you CAN dance to it.

Powered by a dynamic, glove-tight horn section, Scraps of Brass pays tribute to Chicago's Rock, Pop and R&B legacy, epitomized by such artists as Chicago, The Ides of March, The Buckinghams and Earth, Wind & Fire. Scraps of Brass combines a dynamic live show with an audience-pleasing repertoire that has made them a favorite at clubs, festivals and corporate events throughout the Chicago area.

The band's ever-expanding song list offers a mix of Contemporary Hits, Classic Rock, Oldies, Vintage R&B, and Soul, along with some distinctive touches that are all their own. Audience favorites include songs by artists such as Chicago, Van Morrison, Heart, Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Rare Earth, Linda Ronstadt and Santana, among many others.

Scraps of Brass lead vocalists Cathy Narvaez and Jim Neff combine for a one-two punch in the tradition of the classic male-female duos. Cathy's heartfelt vocals range stylistically from a seductive purr to a full-tilt growl, while Jim's gritty, soulful approach provides a fine complement. Jim and Cathy's playful interaction on stage is a highlight of a Scraps of Brass show.

Providing the engine for the band is the veteran rhythm section of guitarist Dan Kening, keyboardist Marty Ryczek, bassist Michael Narvaez and drummer Dave Heim. These musicians have worked in a variety of settings, ranging from jazz and classical to folk, country, and blues, and their rock-solid foundation is guaranteed to put feet on the dance floor wherever Scraps of Brass plays.

From driving rock to soulful ballads, funky R&B and dance floor anthems, Scraps of Brass give audiences what they want - and a whole lot more!
