CD Review: Scream Arena 'House of Pain'
UK based band 'Scream Arena' sent me a copy of their EP titled 'House of Pain' and for that I am forever grateful - It's KILLER! Although it only has 4 tracks on it; it was certainly enough to hook me as a fan for life. This talented group of 5 has the ability to write extremely catchy songs that burn into your brain and stay there for days! I found my self singing the song 'Somewhere' for at least a week while I was at work & not many bands or even songs for that matter get to me like that. Consisting of band members Andy Paul (vocals), Nick Daniel (bass/vocals), Chris White (lead guitar/vocals), Simon Gillott (rhythm guitar) and Stix (drums).

The EP has a total of 4 tracks:

House of Pain - Goodnight LA - Heartbreak Hotel (cover of Elvis' song) - Somewhere

Each track has either a guitar riff, a drummer who is not afraid to use the cow bell or a vocal moment that makes each song stand out on it's own; it's refreshing to see a band that does not sound generic so to speak. They have taken each song and made it their own in only the way Scream Arena can.

House of Pain - "We shall show no mercy" - INDEED!!

Goodnight LA - always keeping the vocals melodic - brilliant!

Heartbreak Hotel - THE best version of this song I have EVER heard!

Somewhere - My favorite track! Andy's vocals will melt you!

Scream Arena is what I would call the total package; the band is tight & they have some of the best melodic vocals for an upcoming band that I have heard in years! Andy has the ability to swoon you with softer vocals and then bring it on louder when the song calls for it - simply astounding!
