screaming silent

This project was officially brought to life in march of 2003, although had been put in motion long before. While guitarist Micah and drummer Derek worked together in two previous bands, they were not able to find the balance that they were searching for. Mike had enjoyed some success in a few previous bands, but nothing seemed to be exactly what he was searching for. Dustin had worked on a few projects before Screaming Silent, but nothing serious. However, the four located an equilibrium point and found themselves making music together. Two weeks before the band’s first show on August 15th, 2003, at the now defunct Tekworld in Louisville, Kentucky, the band realized that there was no way around it; they had to locate a bassist to carry the low end of the music and give it the thickness that it needed. Chris had come to one of the band’s practices, just as a spectator and guitarist, and his services were immediately recruited, when he was coaxed into picking up the bass. With only two practices before the band’s first show, things went relatively smoothly. 3 months later, Screaming Silent entered Summertime Studios with 12 hours of studio time to record three songs. Disease, mercy kill, and taste were recorded and the band’s first demo was done. As the band began to book more shows, they realized that they were in dire need of filling their sixth and final spot, for a keyboardist/programmer. derek's brother matt, who was an avid fan, was to fill this spot, with his first show on valentine's day of 2004.
