The best kept secret in music

"AllMusic.com"

"The tunes can best be described as dark, morose, and haunting, leaving the listener awed with a hurricane-like presence. Like walking through a firecracker haze of sound, stirring abuzz with energy and excitement, this is what Scream Sophie can bring to an audience, with tight grooves, passionate vocals, and heavy percussion." - Shawn Haney - Sep 2001

"Music Insight"

"It seems Alabma has been developing better and better bands lately. With the major label releases and success of bands like TRUSTCompany and Wayne, people are starting to take notice at its original scene. Now, I really wasn't expecting much here, but I have to say I was really surprised. Opening with "Secrets in a Jar" the band sets in motion a package of radio-friendly, yet aggressive songs with catchy hooks. "Breathe" is the most radio ready, while "Everyday" showcases Tim Ward's strong vocals and Curt Granger's super-energetic and adventurous guitar playing. The rest of the disc continues its assault on the senses, and also hints back to the old style of music when rock was fun. Let's hope someone is smart enough to pick these guys up." - Keith Morrow - Mar 2003

"FleaBomb.com"

"Original in sound with strains of post-Grunge frivolity mixed in with current musical trends, it’s not hard to recognize strains of early STP, shades of Bush and yes, a dash of Creed. But don’t let that sway you: strong guitar riffs and bits of heavy metal thrashing will keep all you rockers happy. With tracks like "Caged" and "Half the Way" evoking heralded images of love gone wrong or gaffes of misguided youth, Scream Sophie weaves the past into modern day rock angst. Although the sound is at times familiar, the lyrics are fresh. Besides, these are precisely the things labels look for when signing new bands. The final track, "Love’s Too Hard," evokes early images of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and throughout the Beatle-esque chorus, the love song is dreamy and comfortably familiar, but with a tangle of individual rock and roll affliction."
- Stanley J. Holditch - Apr 2003

Bio

When you hear the name Scream Sophie, what kind of image comes to mind? A loud, orgasmic woman? Batgirl on steroids? Guitars that rip your heart out? It's hard to sum up the band in just a few words! Although at first glance Scream Sophie appears to be a typical hard rock band, closer listening reveals several layers of intense, meaningful, thought provoking music and lyrics that can take the listener on a wild ride of raging rhythms, thunderous beats, searing guitar riffs, and melodic, inspired vocals.

Scream Sophie originated as a recording project in 1999 when guitarist and songwriter Curt Granger began writing and recording new material. Shortly after starting the project he enlisted the help of drummer, and recently turned-vocalist/guitarist Timmi 'G' Ward. The two forged a strong songwriting alliance and the Scream Sophie machine was born.

The band’s recording, "Offerings," was the band's debut full-length CD, released in summer of 2001, and garnered critical acclaim and drew the interest of several record labels, radio stations, and 1000's of new fans across the US. The band's highly anticipated second full length CD "Secrets in a Jar" has just been released and is the next logical step in the band's progression.

Scream Sophie continues to unleash their live show to more-than-willing audiences, and are steadily gaining recognition both regionally and internationally, via radio play, heavy internet marketing, and touring. Prior years of experience performing in numerous bands have produced musicians who know how to entertain and work a crowd, yet still reach each audience member on a personal level. A growing fan base, pure determination, and a love of the music is what drives this band to perfection and the quest to expose their musical vision to the world.
