"Music Monthly"

-The songs employ the well-worn traits of most jam bands:
jazzy guitars, rubbery bass lines, muscular drumming and peaceable, unpretentious vocals, all delivered with a tip of the hat to all things funky..."
-'Vocalist Phil Lehr is obviously a one-take guy. His conversational
delivery and ambiguous melodies are the mark of singer more concerned with the spirit of the moment than in capturing the perfect performance."
-"These every man songs are simple enough to appeal to musical tourists yet contain just enough soul to catch the ear of the Starbucks crowd, whose appetite for nonthreatening, urban sounds shows no signs of waning."
-"Sometimes is well-intentioned music which has all the ingredients
to make it a favorite among jamsters young and old. It's perfect for those long trips to the Outer Banks or entertaining a diverse mixture of co-workers at home.

"Music Monthly"

-" I loved listening to Scrimshaw. They are an exciting young group of guys and the college crowds loves them."
-"I would definitely say that these guys are off the beatin path, but they project such warm feelings through their music, I liked them immediately."
-"They are upbeat, and that is an understatement. It's good time music, the kind you gotta groove to. They are really good live."

SCRIMSHAW (Live Band/Music Review)

Show Notes: Cool breeze on a hot summer day. This acoustic jam band has their shyt together in the greatest way. I was thoroughly impressed by their covers that were completely different. No need to compete with the originals when your version sounds like a brand new day. Notably the "What I Got" by Sublime cover was definitely different and great in it's self. As much as I am hardly a fan of Dave Matthews, I would say that the range of vocals(a wide range) might remind you of them (in the tiniest and only for reference purposes kind of way). So it would also make sense to sum it up by saying that each song left me feeling satisfied. I can't wait to see them play again next week and I bought their debut CD called "Sometimes" today so you know it's good stuff. (FYI-the CD is $15, good deal, believe me) PS-On the CDBaby page it says "the college crowd digs them" and that comment just does not do them justice. - the stash master
