Bio

During The Cold War, The Soviet Union developed a series of tactical ballistic missiles called “Scuds.” Now, hip hop culture is experiencing its own “Cold War” that's waged between cultural purists and media monoliths. In the midst of this war, Scud One is aimed, ready to strike, and make a deep impact. Where the missile is widely notorious for its inaccuracy, the emcee prides himself on precision, innovation, and wide range. Raised on Chicago's north side, a young Scud One first began bombing the scene with graffiti art. As he became more entrenched in hip hop culture, the next step of his evolution brought him to music. After launching his career as an emcee, Scud One has remained on target. While relentlessly pursuing his personal goal of becoming the best, Scud has found himself in the company of heavyweights in the independent scene. His first outing as a recording artist was on the Windy City Records compilation, “Hostage Radio Chicago.” Here he is featured alongside underground hip hop icons Brother Ali and J.U.I.C.E. His song, “All I Ever Needed” is a personal account of his deep sentiments toward the culture. From a sonic standpoint, “All I Ever Needed” is rich and soulful, yet it represents only one aspect of this multifaceted artist. To experience the full range of Scud One's arsenal one must see his live performance. Scud One showcases his ability to rock crowds with lyrical prowess, impeccable flow, and a dynamic vocal presence. He is also capable of focusing their attention with detailed storytelling and honest, introspective songs. In the purest sense of the term emcee, Scud One is a master of ceremonies. He possesses the ability to move the crowd, and direct them with the power of his voice. He has held his own on stages with the likes of Invincible, Akbar, Pugs Atoms, Longshot, Qwel, as well as Frukwan of Gravediggaz and Stetsasonic fame. In a short time, Scud One has made himself a fixture in Chicago's underground hip hop scene. He has made regular appearances at venues such as U.S. Beer Company, Subterranean, and Goose Island. He has also made appearances on Chicago's own CTA Radio on WHPK 88.5 FM. Wherever Scud goes, a path of destroyed mics inevitably seems to follow. With his uncompromising artistic integrity and tireless work ethic, it can easily be said that Scud One is set on a collision course with legendary status in hip hop.
