"ECLECTIC SOUND BASEMENT"

Woah! Killer band!. They're called The Seahorse Liberation Army, a group of self-described San Fransiscan Dadaist Guerilla Semioticians who look towards, amongst other things, French pop and rock for musical inspiration. This work is so imaginative and borderline-psychotic that I'm grinding my teeth. I want to hear more. I want to buy an album or an EP from these guys. You should, too. In fact, go to their website now and just have a good time. - http://soundbasement.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_soundbasement_archive.html

"Paris Hilton what are the odds"

Hacked address book
Paris Hilton

On February 19, 2005, conceptual art outlaws, Seahorse Liberation Army, posted the contents of Hilton's personal T-Mobile account to the Internet: phone numbers (which included many celebrities such as Christina Aguilera, Fred Durst, Eminem, Lindsay Lohan, Jay-Z, Anna Kournikova, Andy Roddick, Avril Lavigne), notes (with even more numbers and email addresses, and reminders such as her date to host Saturday Night Live), and thirty-five digital snapshots. In two of the leaked photos, Hilton is standing topless next to the MTV Latin America's VJ Eglantina Zingg, whom she kisses. This further added to the speculation that Hilton might be gay or bisexual. Many of her notes showed heavy usage of Internet slang.

Within days, it was revealed that Hilton's account could be accessed by anyone guessing the answer to the "forgotten password" challenge question she chose: "What is your favorite pet's name?" As the answer to this question is a matter of public record, an anonymous party was able to guess it and notify the press.

"photoblogging"

Sea Horse Liberation Army

She's crouching on the white table top naked licking a white plate. It's the first image I click on the contact sheet. The URL's been mailed to me by some San Francisco art students, Sea Horse Liberation Army. The photo, I soon realise, is a re-enactment of a scene from Godard's film Weekend. The girl is very handsome, but what's so magnificent about this picture, apart from its immediate beauty, is that it takes me to a world where groups of friends re-enact scenes from Godard films. That's already a very bold, sexy and interesting world. It reminds me that an image is not just remarkable for itself, but also for the parallel world it invites us to imagine and enter, the world in which the anomaly it depicts is normal.

This photoblog reminds me, for some reason, of a John Cage song where the performer makes banana milkshake for the audience. - momus (http://www.imomus.com)
