"BIGSOUND Live 2011"

Quirky indie-poppers Seals are a revelation at Ric’s, making for a fantastic finish to the BigSound Live program. Multi-tasking ringleader Euan handles guitar, bass and vocals with equal aplomb and keyboardist Dimity maintains her cool sans shoes. - RAVE Magazine

"Release of the Week"

Local indie-pop quartet radiate summer vibes

Brisbanites Seals used the Baby Seal Club moniker in the first two years since their inception, gradually evolving into an exciting live unit specialising in effervescent, ‘60-styled indie-pop – not far removed from Sydney’s vintage groove-masters Belles Will Ring. That’s not to say they don’t cut the mustard in the studio: the four-piece’s latest CD brims with organic, solar-powered energy. Adorned with suitably “tropical” cover art, Castaways is a considerably more polished-sounding effort than last year’s raw, “DIY” Paradise EP. Guitarist/vocalist Euan the Bruce is in charge of the vintage Scots indie-flavoured six-string jangle, while keyboardist Dimity lays down one organ hook after another and the rhythm section of Andy and Nick keep the pulse steady. Triple J-checked singles Long Slow Summer and Happy Too – respectively a swingin’ garage-pop number and Afrobeat-tinged hip-shaker – are immediate standouts, with the Kinks-esque 2:45 and the acoustic-led Creepy not far behind. Pure, uninhibited summer fun. - RAVE Magazine

"2High Festival Review"

Inside, local four-piece Seals are a joy to behold, their ‘60s pop psychedelic jangle only bettered by their energy onstage. - MITCH ALEXANDER - RAVE Magazine

"Gig Review: Oscar+Martin & SEALS"

Seals have a bit of weight and drive behind their music, with a solid pop rock base and threads of keyboards and synth that add to but don’t overpower their sound. It’s a very confident performance, mostly because of charismatic lead singer Euan Bruce, who is a fatal combination of handsome and Scottish. - MADELEINE LAING - RAVE Magazine

"BEST OF 2011: Indie"

SEALS – Castaways: “…the four-piece’s latest CD brims with organic, solar-powered energy … Pure, uninhibited summer fun.” (DENIS SEMCHENKO) - RAVE Magazine
