Bio

Dr. Mike and the Sea Monkeys grew around the work of humorist and nationally syndicated columnist Mike Ball. A recipient of the Erma Bombeck Award, Mike's funny and poignant columns are enjoyed all over the world. Mike is also the founder of Lost Voices, a non-profit that designs and implements song writing and performing workshops for incarcerated and at-risk kids.

The band was born when Mike, a folk and acoustic blues musician since the 1960s, began promoting his book, "What I've Learned So Far... Part I: Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets" by performing songs based on the book at book signings and other events.

Scott Clauser has been a multi-instrumentalist for nearly forty years, including stints with the folk-rock band, The Brakemen and the southern rock band, The Willies.

Since our style is very informal and jam-oriented, we are often joined by other folk and blues musicians. One frequent Sea Monkey-For-A-Day is harmonica virtuoso Peter Madcat Ruth, who aside from being an outstanding headliner on his own, is a member of the blues duo Madcat & Kane, and the acoustic quartet Madcat & Kane and Maxwell Street.

Other Sometimes Sea Monkeys include Josh White, Jr., Kitty Donohoe, Billy Mack and Bert Franco.
