"Premiere: Sean Hobbes - I'm Not Sorry"

NEW ORLEANS ALT-ROCK ARTIST SEAN HOBBES UNVEILS ENERGETIC NEW SINGLE ‘I’M NOT SORRY’
Taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Things Feel Slow’, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ is the latest energetic number from New Orleans based alt-rock icon, Sean Hobbes.

Following in the footsteps of previous 2020 EP ‘The Cyclic Nature of Love’, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ gives insight into an exceptional few months ahead for Sean.

Showcasing his extraordinary songwriting, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ hears Sean weave through multiple genres to create his signature sound.

Sharing his thoughts on the powerful new release, Sean Hobbes tells us, “I’m Not Sorry” is the triumph of being done with someone’s bullshit.

I actually wrote the lyrics on a flight and I was just fuming by the time I finished because it’s kind of the message you wish you had been able to say to that person’s face.”

A fearless interpretation of finding your feet in a hectic world, this empowering number addresses issues we can all relate to.

Contrasting darker undertones in the lyrics, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ also features a remarkable brass section that will instantly leave you head over heels.

Sean Hobbes is a shining newcomer that you need to keep an eye out for – we could well be in the presence of a future legend.

"Sean Hobbes releases his frustrations on 'Lonely in the Summertime'"

‘Lonely in the Summertime’ is the brand new release from New Orleans-based alternative musician Sean Hobbes. As the second installment of Hobbes’ upcoming visual-EP, ‘Lonely in the Summertime’ is a bluesy, soulful, and deeply reflective tune. Dealing with the theme of loneliness and the subsequent frustration that comes with it, even when things appear to be going well, it’s clear that the artist has felt the negative effects of the world going into lockdown.

“I could try to make a plan to set me at ease,” sings Hobbes. “But my loneliness has got me like a disease.” Enlisting the help of his band The Hi Res, ‘Lonely in the Summertime’ is an unbelievably genre-bending track. Intense brass and smooth bass lines give the track an almost big-band feel, as Hobbes pushes the boundaries of what pop music is meant to sound like. We simply cannot wait to hear the full EP!

Sean Hobbes pushes some serious musical boundaries on ‘Lonely in the Summertime.’ And pushes them perfectly!

What does the song mean to you?

This song is about the frustrations of feeling alone when things are going well. When we worked on the video, we wanted to portray some of the irony that loneliness can actually unite people because it is a universal experience.

Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?

I think this song can resonate with a lot of people, especially given the past year and a half of the pandemic. Everyone craves social interaction to some degree. I think that it’s important to be aware of your own feelings and to understand that other people are going through something similar.

What does success mean to you?

Success is relative to me. Every time I record and release a song, I learn something from the experience and I try to get better. As long as I keep pushing myself and raising my own expectations, I’ll consider myself successful.

What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?

Well, this is the second song of a visual-EP that we’re rolling out and I’m so excited to share the full project. I really want to establish myself as a storyteller. My band and I are constantly working on new music too so we’re hoping to keep people’s attention for a while - Indie Top 39
