Please tell us about your art.
I am an artist: singer, songwriter, dancer (sometimes lol), and an all-around creative. When growing up music was always a form of expression or escape sometimes, and it was something that was “mine.” Growing up I had little to no control over the things that happened or the severity of situations, and I had no one to speak to about it (at least thats how I felt); so I wrote poems and expressed myself on paper. It wasn’t until middle school when I wrote my first song called “I See You” and singing it gave me a whole new feeling of being free cause I wasn’t just writing it down anymore I was verbally letting it out!

Moving forward I joined a nonprofit organization called YE (Youth Expressions) where a group of us created pieces and performed around Miami. We did a performance for an HIV awareness event, and it was then I realized that music wasn’t just “mine” and my words and creation could touch someone else the way it had for me for so long. That’s when I decided I wanted to do this. I wanted to share my music and show people something real, fun, inspiring, or whatever the song may suggest. My art displays who I am as you will find when you listen to the compilation of sounds and energy that is where it shows that I am no longer afraid to speak and just be true to myself about who I am. I always tell people do not look at yourself as a victim cause after all I’ve been through I sure as hell don’t because it’s made me into the person I am today unapologetically.

What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think conditions for artists today have become more challenging, but there are some new opportunities that have been created as well. As with many other career options, the entertainment business is definitely saturated and not easy to get into for most. However, with the advancements in technology and the growth of social media there are so many new ways and opportunities to reach people and allow them to hear your music or showcase your art without you being there which is AMAZING but some people do prefer a personal interaction with the artist cause they may be interested in your art, but I’ve started realizing that people care about getting to know and connecting with the artist as well. This is why I think its more of a challenge versus conditions being easier or harder.

To help artist thrive, I encourage their cities to support!

It’s so easy to support nowadays, and a lot of times it cost NOTHING to just support. Come to an event, stream their music, like, share, repost something, etc.

Not every artist has a bag (money) to put towards marketing and PR, but with social media, we can find ways to make things happen while working with a low budget (which most upcoming artists are).

Plain and simple SUPPORT!!! We do appreciate it. ^_^

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I recently released my first EP titled “Without Permission.”
