Bio

Guitarist/composer Sean L. McMorris hails from Atlanta, GA, and has been playing throughout the Southeast and Mid-Western US in a number of contexts for over 20 years. His usage of various guitar textures in soul music and equal proficiency on bass has helped him work with artists like Van Hunt, Dionne Farris, Vinx, DJ Hurricane and Cody Chestnutt among others. At the present writing, his guitar work on Twin Spirit's My Beautiful Ugly have helped propel the CD to #3 on the UK Soul Charts. In addition, Sean is equally comfortable in the rock genre, having shared the stage with artist such as Derek Trucks, John Popper, the Barenaked Ladies and opened for numerous other acts.
Starting at age 14, he first began learning guitar before moving to drums, mallets, bass (upright and electric), and other stringed instruments. Sean's interests in the music on the ECM jazz record label, as well as funk and rock lead him to combine all of these elements into a singular style. This is the foundation behind his use of various guitar textures in the studio to create a lush effect; something usually missing especially in Urban music.
Sean's influences are varied. Some of the many artists that help inform his guitar style are: Carlos Santana, Al McKay, Jimmy Nolen, Pat Metheny, Ace Frehley, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Allan Holdsworth, Andy Summers and numerous others. On the bass end, James Jamerson, Jaco, Stanley Clarke, Sting and many others have been a great influence.
